This kind of fracture is rare. When falling, the palm touches the ground, and the impact force acts on the lower end of the radius through the scaphoid, resulting in a transverse fracture of the styloid process of the radius. Others were injured by direct impact, such as a car crank counterattack. In addition, the wrist joint is too strong and the radial collateral ligament is too strong, which leads to the avulsion fracture of the styloid process of radius. The fracture is small and displaced distally. Fracture of styloid process of ulna is often related to ligament traction, often accompanied by Colles fracture and single fracture.
Treatment measures
Displacement of styloid process fracture of radius, pulling ulna to wrist joint and pushing displaced fracture piece to ulnar side can obtain satisfactory reduction. It can be fixed with short arm plaster for 3 ~ 4 weeks. If it is unstable or displaced again after reduction, it can be fixed with Kirschner wire or screw.
Fracture of styloid process of ulna can be fixed in forearm neutral position and wrist ulnar deviation for 4 weeks with plaster support. Because the styloid process of ulna is not easy to heal, if the pain is aggravated, resection is feasible.
clinical picture
Local swelling, pain and tenderness are obvious, and bone friction can be touched. Subcutaneous blood stasis, in severe cases, there is blood in the wrist joint, and the movement of the wrist joint is limited.
The styloid process of radius is fractured, and the fracture line is not easy to see on lateral X-ray photos. A transverse fracture line can be seen on the plain X-ray film, starting from the junction of scaphoid and lunate articular surface, extending outward and ending at the tip of radial styloid process about 1cm. When the styloid process of ulna is broken, a slight displacement can be seen.
