The National Games is held every four years, usually around the year of the Olympic Games. Sponsored by the State Sports Commission and entrusted by all provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. 1 The National Games was held in Beijing on 1959. The National Games is the highest-level and largest comprehensive sports meeting in China. The events of the National Games are basically the same as those of the Olympic Games except martial arts. Its original intention is to train new people and select talents for the national Olympic strategy.

On July 20 16, the general office of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government issued the overall work plan for the 14th National Games. In September, the Shaanxi Provincial Government held the inaugural meeting and the first working meeting of the Shaanxi Provincial Preparatory Committee for the 14th National Games, and established a preparatory committee headed by the governor. On September 8, 20 17, at the closing ceremony of Tianjin National Games, Shaanxi Province took over the flag of the National Games, marking the time when the 14th National Games entered Shaanxi.
