In Shouning, Changxia wants to eat "Changxia paste" on this day. "Long summer paste, eat belly toot." This is a dialect saying circulating in Shouning, which means that on this day, everyone cooks long summer paste, and everyone eats happily and has a full stomach.
It is said that the widespread eating of "Long Summer Paste" in rural areas of Shouning County began in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, when Japanese invaders entered from Zhejiang and plundered Yidu and Sidu in Xixi and Nanyang today. And then captured the county seat. Qi Jiguang led the army into Fujian to suppress the enemy, which was well received by people all over the country. Ordinary people often send meals to treat Qi Jiajun. That day happened to be the solar term of long summer. When Qi Jiajun arrived in Yidu, he won several battles along the way and decided to rest here for half a day. People in Yidu have gathered delicious food at home for comforting Qi Jiajun. Unexpectedly, at this time, there was news that the enemy was preparing for action, and time was pressing. I don't know who used his quick wits to prevent Qi Jiajun from fighting on an empty stomach. He came up with an idea. He poured all the rice paste that was going to make steamed cakes into the pot, spread it on the side of the pot so as to cook it as soon as possible, and then mixed in diced mushrooms, bamboo shoots, gold needles, fungus, peas and so on. Within a quarter of an hour, pot after pot of paste was cooked, and the soldiers fought bravely after eating it in the shortest time. The soldiers who ate the paste praised this food for its unique taste, delicious taste and comfort, and Shouning people felt delicious after tasting it. The long summer of the following year was followed by others and gradually became a custom. The long summer cream was born in this way.
