Is HarmonyOS really an Android shell changer? What kind of system is it?
Recently, Huawei released the developer beta version of HarmonyOS2.0. At the same time, it is open to developers for testing. Huawei P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, MatePad Pro and other devices have the opportunity to experience first. Unfortunately, my Huawei Mate 40 is not within the testing scope.

With the release of HarmonyOS2.0, there are many voices of doubt on the Internet. For example, HarmonyOS2.0 looks like EMUI 1 1, but it's actually renamed by Android. HarmonyOS OS 2.0 still supports Android APP, which is not an independent system at all.

First, let me explain the first point. HarmonyOS2.0 looks the same as EMUI 1 1. EMUI 1 1 is actually not a system. Its essence is Android. Both Huawei's EMUI and Xiaomi's MIUI are just a UI, which is deeply customized on the basis of Android.

What is UI?

UI is the abbreviation of user interface. UI design refers to the overall design of human-computer interaction, operation logic and beautiful interface of software. Therefore, EMUI and MIUI, their interfaces, human-computer interaction and operation logic are all designed by Huawei and Xiaomi themselves, and the bottom layer is Android.

Therefore, it can be understood that in EMUI 1 1, everything we see and the logic of operation are Huawei's, while in HarmonyOS2.0, we continue to use this UI, only using the part designed by ourselves in EMUI 1 1, which does not mean that we are still using Android.

Then why should Huawei continue to use this UI? There is no completely different UI?

First, it takes money and time to develop another UI, which is the best UI that Huawei can think of and design so far. If it can develop a better UI, wouldn't it be better to directly upgrade the version number EMUI 12 or HarmonyOS3.0?

Second, if Huawei wants existing users to seamlessly switch to HarmonyOS2.0, it must make users feel unaccustomed, let users use the original system, and let users better adapt to the new system. Therefore, we should continue to use the interface and logic of EMUI 1 1 to ensure that users will not be lost.

Some people will say that Huawei wants to attract users, make HarmonyOS2.0 smoother and design a better system than Android. But the system is smoother and easier to use. Can you tell from the interface style? Doesn't mean that the interface style is the same as the old version, so it can't be smoother? The UI of IOS doesn't change much every upgrade, so the system can't be smoother? Can't there be more functions?

Others say that the underlying code of HarmonyOS2.0 is still in Android or the execution logic of HarmonyOS2.0 application is still in Android. First of all, HarmonyOS2.0 and Android are both based on Linux, so there will be some similarities at the bottom, that's for sure. It can't be said that Android was developed by Google itself based on Linux, while Huawei didn't develop itself based on Linux. Besides, Google's legal department is not a vegetarian, is it? Now HarmonyOS2.0 is open source. If it uses Android instead of Android to mark power, will Google let it go?

So why should Huawei be based on Linux after boasting so much? Why not completely develop a system of your own?

You can ask Google and Apple the same question. You are so awesome, playing the system for so many years. Why should it be based on Linux and Unix?

Volkswagen makes four-wheel cars, and Toyota makes four-wheel cars. Why didn't anyone say that Toyota copied the logic of the public?

Therefore, HarmonyOS2.0 is not the Android shell replacement that everyone said, but the core replacement should be EMUI 1 1.

Having said that, I just feel that it is very difficult for our domestic enterprises now. As China people, we may not like the products of this enterprise, but there is no need to spray them everywhere. Huawei, ZTE, DJI, Hikvision and other enterprises are all striving for our independent high-tech industry.

So what kind of system is HarmonyOS?

HarmonyOS system is an interconnected system and a distributed system. Not only a mobile phone system, but also a TV system, a refrigerator system or a microwave oven system. So HarmonyOS system is a system that can be applied to all electronic products.

Good at multi-device cooperative operation. For example, if you watch TV on a smart screen, you can use your mobile phone to send a barrage, which will be displayed on TV in real time and posted online. The mobile phone can be used as the remote control of the smart screen, which is certainly not the traditional screen projection.

When you take a taxi with the mobile phone of HarmonyOS system, the information such as the status and distance of the vehicle will be displayed on the watch, so you don't have to hold the mobile phone to see where the car is going in winter.

If you want to cook a barbecue for your family, marinate the meat, put it in the oven, and use the mobile phone of HarmonyOS system to find the corresponding menu. The mobile phone will send the baking temperature and time to the oven without setting it yourself.

In addition, you can record with a tape recorder, and you can simultaneously convert the recorded data into words or translate them in real time on the mobile phone of HarmonyOS system. If you want to travel, check the route with your mobile phone in advance and send it to the car. When you get on the bus the next day, the car navigation will navigate according to the data of the previous day.

Therefore, HarmonyOS system is not only the operating system of a mobile phone, but also the operating system of various electronic products, which allows us to switch or cooperate with each other more conveniently. This is the advantage of distributed system.

Of course, Huawei is not alone in making such a system. Google is also developing its own distributed system, which is the development trend of the future 5G Internet of Everything and the general trend.
