Planting and management methods of asparagus.
Asparagus is suitable for growing in black sandy soil with deep soil layer, loose and fertile soil and good drainage, or in soil with more humus. Appropriate amount of river sand and culture soil can be used to mix the soil. Asparagus likes warmth, has poor cold tolerance and avoids high temperature, and is mostly cultivated in greenhouse. It is suitable for growing in areas with warm winter and cool summer, with an average temperature of 18-20℃, and it should be kept indoors above 5℃ for safe wintering in winter. It likes humid environment and is not drought-tolerant. It needs to keep the soil moist for one month after planting. In case of dry weather, watering times should be increased, which is beneficial to plant growth.

Asparagus can be propagated by sowing or dividing plants. The fruit can be harvested when it turns from green to red in September 9- 10/0 every autumn. After stacking fermentation, full and large seeds are selected as seeds. Spring sowing or autumn sowing can be done. Spring sowing is usually in late March. After sowing, cover with plant ash or compost, then cover with fine soil, and cover the top with straw for moisture retention. The suitable temperature for germination is 17-20℃, and seedlings can emerge in 18-20 days after sowing. After germination, remove the straw. Autumn sowing is generally carried out from September to1early October, combined with loosening soil and fertilizing.

Asparagus is a fertilizer-tolerant plant. Sufficient fertilizer should be applied during cultivation, and topdressing for many times can promote germination, rooting and flowering. Long-term direct exposure to strong light will lead to yellowing of leaves and even withering of seedlings, so it should be cultivated in a semi-cool environment. If the soil is too wet or the application of soil fertilizer causes bruises, it will cause root rot, the symptom is terminal root rot, which gradually develops to the head. Pay attention to drainage and sprinkle appropriate amount of quicklime powder around the diseased plants.
