Florence: Meet the master of art and bathe in the emerald green of sacred light.
I feel that Xu Zhimo's emerald green is more textured and poetic than Florence now. Poets are romantic, and jade is just a romantic city where artists gather. Those of us who succumb to the footsteps of our predecessors can also touch the artistic atmosphere left by the giants of the Renaissance with our bodies and minds.
During my trip from Rome to the south, I visited several cities, but Florence was my favorite place.
Every day, along the dilapidated, flat and uneven road paved with small stones, I will walk to Notre Dame de Flowers, visit the refuge of poet Dante and master Michelangelo in the Holy Cross Church, look up at Botticelli's The Birth of Venus in Uffizi Art Museum, and overlook the whole city in Michelangelo Square on the other side of the Arno River, waiting for the sunset on the horizon. This is my homework in Florence.
Walking in the old city, there won't be too many people, not as crowded as the Vatican City in Rome; Not too lonely. On the street corner, there will be unexpected surprises at any time: maybe it is a sculpture by the wall, maybe a singer playing in the square, or even a quiet church-gently push open the door and there is no one inside. There are exquisite religious paintings on the tall domes and French windows, and the statues on the column walls are lifelike, that's all. According to the metaphor of "God said, where there is light, there is light", the dome of the church must be designed to penetrate sunlight. Leonardo da Vinci's famous mural "The Last Supper" located in the monastery of Santa Maria in Milan skillfully uses the light outside the window and casts it on Jesus, just like the light chasing in the center of the stage is always aimed at the figure in front, while the wretched Judas is only in the shadow. The believers who entered the church quietly knelt on one leg and crossed their hands, and made a pious and respectful ceremony to the statue of Jesus on the altar. When I was sitting in the church, there was a black man in my right hand, kneeling under the crucified statue of Jesus, holding the feet of the statue of Jesus in both hands, kissing and mumbling something, which looked like a mysterious and strange ceremony.
Yes, every church we meet on the road, we have to go in and sit. I like the quietness of the church, I can hear the sound of needles falling to the ground, and I feel so quiet and addicted to the empty inspiration that I am far away from the hubbub.
In Catholic churches, there are often many celebrity cemeteries, or aristocrats of past dynasties, or famous cultural masters in China. Of course, bishops are more common. For example, in St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican, there is a huge catacombs for people to visit, which contains the sarcophagus of successive Catholic popes. According to the church, it is a supreme honor for believers to be buried in the church after death, which is called "returning to the embrace of the Lord". This is not the treatment that ordinary believers can enjoy. The Holy Cross Church, which we specially visited, is the resting place of many masters.
With the map, we found the Holy Cross Cathedral near the Arno River. This Gothic building was built in 1294, which is 3 1 year after the death of Kublai Khan, the first emperor of China Yuan Dynasty. In the same year, the Italian Catholic Franciscans were allowed to establish a church in the capital to preach. In this church, there are graves of world-class masters, including the famous Renaissance poet Dante, painter, sculptor, architect and poet Michelangelo, physicist and astronomer Galileo, musician Antonio Rossini and so on. Master Michelangelo is an artistic idol at the beginning of our painting, and his David seems to be a necessary work for our sketch. Born in Florence, Michelangelo is the dean of Diano Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. At the invitation of the Pope, he created paintings and sculptures handed down from generation to generation, such as Mourning for Christ, Genesis, Moses and Bound Slaves 0755-79000. St Peter's Cathedral and Sistine Chapel in Rome, until he died in 1564 and was buried in the Holy Cross Church.
The ground of Holy Cross Church is covered with tombstones, some of which are carved with reliefs of the dead. These faces trampled by years are blurred. Walking on the sarcophagus of countless Florence celebrities will inevitably make people tremble and stand on tiptoe for fear of disturbing people who have been sleeping underground for hundreds of years. Fortunately, the tombs of Michelangelo, Dante and Galileo that I admire are not on the ground of the church, but on the wall on the right side of the entrance to the church gate. They stood silently in front of the teachers. In an instant, the light came in from the skylight, as if the soul was out of the body, slipped out and disappeared.
Out of the church, we crossed the Vecchio Bridge on the Arno River. The stone road on the other side was narrow and long, passing through the towering buildings and winding castle alleys on both sides, and came to an old broken wall. We began to climb the mountain. The height is Michelangelo Square, and its symbol is the famous statue of David. Many people gathered at the highest point of the city to have a bird's eye view of the ancient city of Florence, waiting for the arrival of dusk. From here, the ancient city is endless and the city is spectacular. The domes and towering bell towers of several churches are the most striking, protruding from a dense red tile wall. Gradually, the twilight gradually blurred the ancient city in front of me. Suddenly, the bell of Giotto's bell tower floated above the city with flying pigeons. Giotto Bell Tower and Notre Dame de Paris are located in the center of the city, so that when we walk, we often use them as signs to judge whether we have gone too far.
The sun is high in the sky, and the stairs facing west of Michelangelo Square are crowded with people waiting for sunset. They ate snacks, drank beer and chatted happily, showing great patience with the ridiculous sunset moving slowly on the horizon. I've been here twice. The first time the clouds were too thick, the sunset stood me up. When I left, the people sitting in rows still didn't leave. The second time, the beautiful sunset finally arrived as promised. When the sun sets on the horizon at the end of the Arno River, the whole city of Florence is shrouded in golden light, just like the light of God. On the stairs, the long-awaited people burst into warm applause, cheering for the successful conclusion of this beautiful day and giving the fullest affirmation for their patience.
Humans need to affirm and encourage themselves from time to time, so as to accumulate confidence and courage and move on.
Every city and every scenic spot has its best viewing and traveling time. There is always a peak every year. Today, I want to introduce Florence. I wonder if you chose the right time? Bian Xiao will introduce you to the best time to travel in Florence:
Florence has a subtropical humid climate. Because it is located in a valley surrounded by mountains, the Arno River runs through it, and Florence lacks the prevailing wind in summer. It is hot and humid from June to August, and the temperature is obviously higher than that in the coastal areas of Tuscany, and the highest temperature can reach 40 degrees Celsius.
The summer from July to August every year is the tourist season, and Florence is the most beautiful place under the bright sunshine. Moreover, because it is summer vacation, Italians will go out for a holiday, so there are fewer locals and more tourists, which is the tourist season.
Italy Travel Card Tip:
It is cold here in the morning and evening. Take a coat in rainy days and an umbrella in hot days to avoid getting wet.
After learning about the climate in Florence, I'll introduce you to the places that Florence must visit. Don't miss it. Be sure to experience:
