The only traditional festival of the Dulong people is the New Year, which is called "Kaquewa" in Dulong language. It is generally held in the twelfth lunar month of winter, that is, from December to January of the following year. There is no fixed date, and the specific days are selected by each village.
The length of the festival depends on the amount of food, maybe two or three days, or four or five days. In 1991, the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County designated January 10th of each year as the Kaquewa Festival of the Dulong people in accordance with the wishes of the Dulong people.
