Cold food
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "drinking cold food will damage the lungs", which means that once the body is cold, drinking cold food will damage the lungs. Foods that are cold or cool can damage the lungs of the human body, and coughs are mostly caused by lung qi not clearing and lung qi rising and falling due to lung diseases. If the food is still too cold at this time, it is easy to cause lung qi obstruction, the symptoms will be aggravated, and will not heal over time. Whether in children or adults, coughs are often accompanied by phlegm, and the amount of phlegm is related to the spleen. The spleen is the foundation of the day after tomorrow, and is in charge of the digestion and absorption of food in the human body. If you eat too much cold food, it will damage the spleen and stomach, cause the function of the spleen to decline, accumulate dampness and produce phlegm.
Fat, sweet and flavourful food
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that coughs are mostly caused by lung heat, especially in children. In the daily diet, eating more fatty, sweet and thick foods can produce internal heat, aggravate coughing, and make the phlegm thick and sticky, making it difficult to cough up. For children with asthma, eating too much fat and sweet food can cause phlegm and heat to accumulate, block the respiratory tract, aggravate asthma, and make it difficult to recover from the disease. So you should eat some light food during cough.
