The area and population of Taihu Lake account for more than 65% of the total Wu dialect. It can be further divided into six small blocks: Piling (Changzhou), Suhujia (Suzhou-Shanghai-Jiaxing), Tiaoxi (Huzhou), Hangzhou, Shao Lin (Lin 'an-Shaoxing) and Yongjiang (Ningbo). There is little difference in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation between films, but the intonation is different, and they can basically communicate. Among them, Suzhou-centered small film Su and Changzhou-centered neighboring films are often called "Wu Nong Ruan Yu" because of their pronunciation characteristics.
