Mianyan is a simple but artistic folk handicraft in China, which has a history of more than 2,000 years.
Mianyan was called "self-deduction" in ancient times. Legend is to commemorate the sages of Jin in the Spring and Autumn Period, and now it has evolved into a symbol of spring. When the swallows come, it is spring. In rural areas, farmers are looking forward to a bumper agricultural harvest in the new year, and fishermen pray that the sea will be full of fish and shrimp.
If a swallow nests under the eaves of any house, it will be regarded as a good omen by the owner. Because of this, when noodles come out of the pot, people will wear them with red lines, tie them to straws, decorate them with red cloth strips and hang them at home, symbolizing that a group of swallows come to the door to announce spring and settle down, hoping that their families will be harmonious and healthy.
