The rank sequence of comprehensive management civil servants is divided into: first-class inspector, second-class inspector, first-class researcher, second-class researcher, third-class researcher, fourth-class researcher, first-class chief clerk, second-class chief clerk, third-class chief clerk, fourth-class chief clerk, first-class clerk and second-class clerk.

The positions, ranks and grades of civil servants in People's Republic of China (PRC) are stipulated as follows according to the Civil Servant Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) revised by the Seventh Session of the Standing Committee of the 13th NPC on February 29th, 2008: Article 16 The State implements a job classification system for civil servants.

According to the nature, characteristics and management needs of civil servant positions, civil servant positions are divided into comprehensive management, professional technology and administrative law enforcement. According to this law, if there are special posts that need to be managed separately, other post categories can be added. The scope of application of each type of work shall be stipulated separately by the state.

Article 17 The state implements the system of parallel positions and ranks of civil servants, and determines the sequence of leadership positions and ranks of civil servants according to their positions and responsibilities.
