Ruins of Yuanbao in Chaoyang South Tower
June 5438+October 20041October, when the constructors of Chaoyang Construction Group Construction Company were carrying out underground pipe network construction in "Antique Street" near the South Tower of Chaoyang City, they came across a Liao Dynasty relic, which was identified as the "Stone Palace" where the relics were buried. This "stone palace" is a tomb structure made of brick, with brick on the outside and regular slate on the inside. The backfill soil in the palace has been compacted and buried, and there are precious cultural relics such as a stone letter and a "Buddha relic memorial" monument. The stone culvert is 70 cm long and 40 cm wide. The inside and outside of the wall are covered with clear peony painted patterns, painted with the mythical "flying" image and bound peony flowers. Such a beautiful stone letter is rare. The painted relic letter contains rare treasures such as glass relic bottles, gold-plated silver coffins, silver bowls, silver spoons, gold-plated silver bodhi trees, gold-plated monks' statues and white porcelain bowls of embossed Buddha statues, all of which are Buddhist cultural relics. After careful cleaning by archaeologists, more than ten spindle-shaped polished relics were found. It is clearly recorded on the tablet of the Relic unearthed from the Stone Palace: "The Stone Palace is located under the Shangxingta Temple in the southeast of Bazhou, the Great Khitan State, with a Sakyamuni relic and 18 polished relics" and other contents. The time is the second year of Liao Dynasty, that is, 984 AD. Tonghe is the title of Lu Ye Longxu, the emperor of Liao Dynasty. This is the only ingot Buddha relic with clear written records in the world, and it is also the first case in the world. Sanskrit translation of Yuanbao Buddha, "Burning Buddha" or "Natural Buddha". "On Great Wisdom" said: "When he was born, everything around him was like a lamp, so he was named as a prince burning a lamp, and when he became a Buddha, he was also named as a lamp."
