After years of exploration and development in Zhongyuan Oilfield, the large oil-bearing structures in Dongpu Depression, the main exploration area, have been basically proved, which makes exploration more difficult and the shortage of oil reserves seriously restricts crude oil production. Therefore, Zhongyuan Oilfield regards oil exploration as the leading factor of sustainable development and increases the investment and intensity of exploration. Through hard work, some new oil-rich structures and new oil-bearing strata have been discovered, which has alleviated the contradiction between insufficient oil reserves and unbalanced storage and production in the oilfield.

Zhongyuan Oilfield, the second largest oil and gas field under Sinopec Group, is headquartered in Puyang City, Henan Province. Its main exploration and development areas include Dongpu sag, Puguang gas field and Inner Mongolia exploration area.
