At the foundation site of a major project in Gansu Province, there was an absurd scene of offering sacrifices to heaven and Taoist practices. On April 28th, seven public officials who were present at the time were put on file for review.

On the 26th, a post titled "The Foundation of Nuclear Project in Gansu, Taoist Practising to Keep Peace" was circulated in cyberspace such as WeChat, which caused widespread concern. The reporter learned that the site of the incident was the foundation stone laying site of the Thorium-based molten salt reactor Nuclear Energy System (TMSR) Project in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, and the site of this project was Hongshagang, Minqin County. As can be seen from the pictures in the post, there is a sacrificial table at the scene, and a man dressed as a Taoist holds "utensils" and makes various actions. Finally, a pile of "fu paper" was burned at the scene.

It is the work of construction enterprises to invite Taoist priests on the construction site, and the "Taoist priests" invited are also local farmers. After the incident, the Minqin County Party Committee and the county government immediately set up a special working group to investigate. After preliminary investigation, the person in charge of the construction enterprise involved was interviewed on the 28th, and instructed to make an in-depth inspection to Minqin County Party Committee and county government. The Supervision Committee of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Wuwei City and Minqin County has now filed a case review of seven public officials present, including Zhao, deputy director of the Management Committee of Minqin Hongshagang Industrial Cluster.

The Minqin County Party Committee and County Government indicated that it would rectify the problems by analogy, investigate and deal with the situation publicly in a timely manner, and resolutely put an end to such problems from happening again.
