The way I like to greet the New Year is the natural and relaxed way.

First of all, don’t kowtow when paying New Year greetings, and don’t pay New Year greetings before dawn.

Although my mother-in-law’s house is located on the outskirts of the city, the custom of paying New Year greetings has not kept pace with the times. It still follows a five-thousand-year-old Chinese tradition: kowtow.

To be honest, I personally don’t like this method. There are many ways to express respect. You can bow, you can bow, you can say hello, but you don't necessarily have to kowtow.

Especially on the first day of the Lunar New Year, every year I have to get up in a hurry before dawn, rush to my hometown to pay New Year greetings, and I happily put on new clothes, but when I go out After returning from a New Year's greeting, my knees were completely covered in dirt, and the dirt was so deep into the fabric that it couldn't be removed by just sweeping or flicking it, so I had to wash it with water.

I also remember the year when my sister got married. Because her husband’s family was the youngest, they almost had to visit the whole village to pay New Year’s greetings on the first day of the Lunar New Year. For my sister who had never had too much to drink, this was simply too much. It's fatal. My knees were almost bruised and swollen, and the pain was so painful that I couldn't walk at all. I stayed in bed for several days before I finally recovered.

Because of this, I began to hate the kowtow method of New Year greetings. It's just a matter of kowtowing to your parents and elders. Even those in the village who can't pull the eight poles have to kowtow to pay New Year greetings. It's very formalistic.

Secondly, my favorite way to greet the New Year is to say hello in person when I am near, and to say hello online when I am far away, without giving out lucky money.

If you are close relatives and friends, take the opportunity to get together. You can say hello in person, chat, and enjoy the daily routine. If the distance is far, just make a call or send a WeChat message. In addition, do not give lucky money to children. New Year's money is purely an exchange of money between adults, and it also creates unhealthy consumption concepts in children.

Finally, my favorite way to celebrate the New Year is to travel and vacation together as a family.

I think the year is over. We have worked hard for a year. We should relax together, support the old and the young, go out together for a trip, take a vacation, and relax. Instead of having to go back to my hometown to kill pigs and sheep and eat and drink. Because today’s era is rich in material, there is no shortage of anything, and the daily lifestyle is no worse than that during the New Year. Therefore, during the New Year, you should eat lighter and feel more relaxed. Instead of running around like we are now, making the New Year a waste of time and money.
