Class A, Shanghai Railway University belongs to two universities. Generally speaking, Class A of the two universities refers to public universities, and Class B refers to private universities and independent colleges, so Shanghai Railway University used to be a class university. Shanghai Railway Communication Signal School was renamed as Shanghai Railway Institute and became an engineering university affiliated to the Ministry of Railways to train senior railway engineering and technical personnel.
