Zhuang wedding

Zhuang men and women get to know each other mostly by singing folk songs.

Regular duets are held, which are called "singing parties". The girls are all dressed up before the song market. Please go out and sing. At night, the song will reach its climax. In the moonlight, you can sing and I will answer, expressing love with love songs or joking with a flashlight in my hand to find the right person.

If both parties are willing to exchange tokens, they will inform their parents and let the matchmaker be the matchmaker. If the woman's family agrees, she will bring her daughter's birthday matchmaker to the man's family. If the eight characters match, the man's family will give the woman a dowry to show their engagement. As soon as the wedding day arrives, the man's house will invite female singers to pick up the bride, and the woman's house will also prepare several female singers to the groom's house. As soon as the banquet was opened, the two sides began to sing. According to the custom, on the second day of marriage, the bride will go back to her family with the singer who saw her off, and there will be a duet on the way.

Redmi Festival

Every year on June 1 day, June 24th and July 1 day of the lunar calendar, Wenshan Zhuang compatriots will celebrate "Redmi Festival".

Redmi Festival's "Redmi" is dyed with the juice of a plant called Redmi Leaf. On the first day of the festival, Redmi's leaves were washed and boiled in a pot until the juice turned deep red and the residue was removed. Soak the soaked glutinous rice in the juice for three or four hours, then dry it and steam it in a steamer to make Redmi. Redmi is brightly colored and attractive, packed in a bowl, just like a red rose just released. Delicious and refreshing, it is delicious to eat with white sugar or brown sugar. Later, Redmi gradually became "colored rice" such as red, yellow, purple, black and white. These colored foods are made from the pulp of Redmi leaves, Mimi flowers, wisteria, rice stalks and other plants, and have no side effects on human body.

As for the origin of Redmi Festival, according to the folklore of Zhuang nationality, during the reign of Emperor in the Northern Song Dynasty (1050), the leader farmers of Zhuang nationality were dissatisfied with the oppression of Song Dynasty, led the rebellion, seized the city and robbed the rich to help the poor, and established political power in two or three years, claiming the title of emperor. When the imperial court learned about it, it sent troops to encircle it. Nong Gaozhi fought fiercely with the officers and men, outnumbered, and was besieged by the officers and men on a mountain in Malipo County (also known as Guangnan County). Nong Kochi persisted in the mountains for several months. Due to the lack of water in the mountains, Nong Kochi had to kill several war horses and cook his little rice with their blood. The soldiers are eating horse blood red rice, full of energy, ambitious and ready to fight to the death with the officers and men. At the dawn of the first day of the sixth lunar month, Nong Gaozhi led all the troops to fight hard and finally broke through. On the way to transfer, when passing through Zhuang villages, they were warmly received by Zhuang people. The banker's men, women and children gathered at the end of the village to eat rice, drink rice and send meals to the soldiers. The soldiers said that without Redmi, there would be no victory. Later, in order to commemorate Nong Gaozhi, the Zhuang people set the beginning of June as a memorial day. On this day, every household will cook Redmi to offer sacrifices to Nong Gaozhi.

The time of Redmi Festival of Zhuang nationality is different, including June 1 day, June 24, and July 1 day, which is determined by the time when Nong Gaozhi's team passes through this area. Redmi Festival of Zhuang nationality usually lasts 2-3 days. During the festival, old people and women visit each other. Men go up the mountain to play together, or play basketball and chess. Girls compete to put on holiday costumes and go to young men to sing folk songs in droves. The young man also cleaned up and came to sing with the girls. Sing to each other, get the consent of both parents, and get married on a certain day. In some places, children carry little red rice baskets, put on Redmi and chicken legs, play outside, and eat Redmi and chicken legs while playing.

The Red Packet Festival is the second annual festival of Zhuang nationality. Even the poorest families should try their best to find a few Jin of glutinous rice and a rooster to celebrate this festival. During the festival, the village was beaming, full of wine and laughter.
