The reach from Lanshan County in Hunan Province to Pingdao (Xiao) in Yongzhou City is the main stream of Xiangjiang River. Xiangjiang River flows through Yongzhou City, Hengyang City, Zhuzhou City, Xiangtan City and Changsha City in Hunan Province, and flows into Dongting Lake, a Yangtze River system in Xiangyin County, Yueyang City. If Haiyang River is taken as the source, the main stream of Xiangjiang River is 844 kilometers long and the drainage area is 94,660 square kilometers.
Xiangjiang River is the mother river of Changsha. It flows south, gurgles north, crosses Zhaoshan Mountain and enters Changsha City. After crossing the fork in the road, turn to the northwest, go out of Wangcheng County at Qiaokou, and then enter Dongting via Yueyang. It flows through Changsha city for about 25 kilometers. On both sides of the Xiangjiang River, red cliffs are like clouds, white sands are like snow, weeping willows are like silk, and sails are like clouds, which constitute the beautiful scenery belt along the Yangtze River in Changsha.

Therefore, it has the reputation of "the sacred land of immortals" and was praised as "the first mountain in southern Guizhou" by the scholar-bureaucrat Wang in the Ming Dynasty. Legend has it that Han Xiangzi once practiced here, which became the origin of the name of Xiangjiang River.
