First, the method and application of folding
?
Folding refers to the working process of folding printed books and periodicals and single-page printed materials into a certain format in the order of page numbers. At the beginning of publication process design, we must first determine the folding method of publications. In the design of folding.
Mode, should consider the publication format size, pages, printing and binding equipment, etc. Usually, the position and order of pictures and texts in books and periodicals are determined according to the position of creases when the paper rotates and folds. Current folding method
It can be divided into parallel folding, vertical folding, mixed folding and special folding as shown in Figure 3- 1. Parallel folding method and special folding method (including core folding method and fan folding method, etc. ) is mostly used to fold long printed matter.
Design, such as advertisements, brochures, maps, tables and illustrations in book stickers. Vertical folding method is the most widely used folding method, which is mainly used for the design of the inner pages of books and periodicals. Mixed folding method is also called comprehensive folding method, that is, in
In the same book, there are parallel folds and vertical folds. The mixed folding method is suitable for various forms of book stickers such as 3 fold 6 pages or 3 fold 9 pages. ?

Method two. Imposition method and its application.
?
Imposition means that the pages to be printed are arranged together in the order of page numbers according to their folding mode, and its size depends on the printing format and the size of the printed paper. Imposition can be divided into two types: part imposition and book imposition.
?
1、? Part imposition
?
Scattered parts occupy a large proportion in printed matter. For example, a printed matter with a width of 16K that needs to be printed on both sides can be spliced into a double-sided printed version, as shown in Figure 3-2. In order to save the printing plate, it can also be spliced into a single-sided self-reproduction as shown in Figure 3-3, and the edge of the mouth is not changed when printing.

?
If it is 16 facing the magazine cover, it can be assembled into a self-copy in the following ways, and its typesetting method is shown in Figure 3-4. ?

?
If it is 40% off, it can be spelled into different formats according to different papers. For example, a fan-shaped folded booklet with the size of 100× 185×4 times as shown in Figure 3-5 uses 787× 1092(mm) paper.
Zhang, when printed in quadruplicate, the typesetting method is the flip version as shown in Figure 3-6. In this way, the gripper needs to be replaced when printing is turned over, so printing equipment is not needed when printing high-precision printed matter.
There are higher requirements for paper. ?

2, the imposition of books and periodicals
?
Before printing books and periodicals (magazines, picture albums, atlas, etc.). ), first of all, we must understand the technical factors such as the format, page number, binding method (saddle stitch, wire stitch or binding), printing color number (monochrome, two-color or four-color), paper thickness, folding form (manual folding or machine folding) and so on before we can determine its imposition.
?
Appropriate imposition methods can not only make imposition binding smooth, but also save costs and improve the quality of books and periodicals. In the printing process, the arrangement of pages has specific rules to follow. No matter what the page number is, it must comply with the law.
Only by arranging according to a specific layout can you print. That is, there are certain rules between the number of folds (f) and the number of pages (l) and between the number of pages (a) and the number of printed sheets (i), that is,
The first fold forms two pages and four pages, and the second fold forms four pages and eight pages ... See Appendix 4- 1 for the relationship between the number of folds and the number of pages and layout.
Appendix 3- 1? What is the relationship between the number of folds and the number of pages and layout?
It can be expressed as:
l? =? I ×2F
Answer? =? 2L? =I×2F+ 1
?
At present, although there are many ways to bind, there are only two ways to arrange the pages of imposition:
?
( 1)? Folding and binding method is a set of posts:
?
As shown in Figure 3-7, the set of columns is mainly used for riding horses. For example, a book has 64 pages, and each article has 16 pages (that is, 64P has 16P for each article). If saddle stitching, folding and binding are bookbinding, the imposition method is shown in Figure 3-8.

?
(2) The folding and binding method is typesetting:
?
As shown in Figure 3-9, the finishing type is mainly used for binding and thread-binding processes. For example, the 64-page book in the above example has a page number of 16 per post (that is, 64P has a page number of 16P per post), and it is bound by gluing, folding and binding. The imposition method is shown in Figure 3- 10.
