Who was Yao Zesheng in the late Qing Dynasty?
Yao Zesheng was the boss of Tongde Bank in the late Qing Dynasty.

1930, Yao Zesheng and Yong Shengyuan, manager of Xidan Shopping Mall, invested 5,000 yuan to support Xinfenglou Restaurant, one of the "Eight Buildings" in Beijing, and opened Fengzeyuan Restaurant. Later, on the basis of Fengzeyuan Restaurant, it was expanded into the current Fengzeyuan Restaurant, a three-star hotel with international standards.

Before opening, Yao Zesheng called shareholders to discuss the opening of Fengze Garden, an ancient garden building in Zhongnanhai. Everyone agreed to borrow the good name "Fengzeyuan" as the name of the restaurant, and asked Li Qi to write the plaque. Take the word "Fengze" to symbolize the richness and moisture of the dishes. At the same time, "Ze" is the same as the "Ze" of the major shareholder Yao Zesheng, and it also contains the meaning that Yao Zesheng is a major shareholder, which indicates wealth.

1930 Mid-Autumn Festival in August of the lunar calendar, Fengzeyuan Restaurant officially opened.

Extended data

1952, China is funded by the state, and Fengze Garden is a public-private partnership. This is the first joint venture restaurant in Beijing. At the same time, Fengzeyuan Restaurant, with its famous Shandong cuisine and excellent service, has not only become a place for celebrities to have dinner, but also an important place for China Party and state to hold banquet activities.

Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping and other comrades hosted a banquet in Fengze Garden. President Mao Zedong receives distinguished guests at home and often invites the owner of Fengze Garden to cook. After the "Cultural Revolution" began, the rebels first opened a knife in Fengzeyuan.

As "four seniors", they smashed the plaque of "Fengzeyuan Restaurant" inscribed by Li Qi and threw it into the garbage; Burn data files and recipes that record the flavor of Shandong cuisine; Even many precious silverware, porcelain and hardwood furniture were smashed and destroyed ... Finally, Fengzeyuan Hotel was changed into a "popular hotel", forcing a large number of famous chefs to bake cakes, steam steamed buns and roll noodles and sell them in the street.

This situation continued until 1970, when Comrade Wan Li resumed his work. 1April, 972, the old quadrangle was completely renovated, the new building was completed, the famous chefs were in their places, and the Fengzeyuan restaurant was officially opened again. However, I dare not restore the original name of "Fengzeyuan", but change "Popular Restaurant" into "Feng Chun Restaurant".

The restoration of Fengzeyuan's time-honored brand was also thanks to Comrade Ji Pengfei, then Foreign Minister of China. Finally, under the intervention of Comrade Ji Pengfei, the superior demanded that the brand of "Feng Chun Restaurant" be removed immediately and the plaque of the old brand of "Fengzeyuan Restaurant" be hung up.
