As one of the "China Culture Lectures" sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China, "Yuan Sha's Visit to the United States" was successfully held on June 9 1 1 at San Francisco State University and David Kirk Theatre of Lincoln Art Center, which was well received by Chinese and American audiences and received the attention and support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Taking the historical development time of Guzheng as a clue, Yuan Sha showed the audience how the art of Guzheng was integrated with China's beautiful poems from beginning to end, and showed some famous songs such as Running Water in the Mountains, Sauvignon Blanc, Moonlit Night on a Spring River, Water Lotus and Journey to the Desert. I will show you the course of the inheritance and development of guzheng art in a poetic form, and at the same time explain the spirit of the Chinese nation that supports each piece of music. The audience responded enthusiastically and applauded constantly. While enjoying the beautiful melody around the beam for three days, everyone also felt the profoundness and unique charm of Chinese culture.
The delegation also includes students, young guzheng players Bai Yang and Cen Jiawei, piano player Zhang, percussion player Wu Hao and flute player Ai Hongbo. Artists play together in various forms. Artists who performed with Mr. Yuan Sha also included excellent local violinists. Although they only practiced together in a hurry before the performance, the artists had a tacit understanding and perfectly interpreted an exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Western music across time and space.
Yuan Sha, wearing a white dress, performed seriously and dreamed in the middle of the stage. Although the piano is sonorous, it still brings unspeakable tranquility and elegance.
Yuan Sha's aesthetic feeling far exceeds her natural beauty. She floated out of the dust, not only because of her flowing shawl and long hair, but also because of her extraordinary temperament and elegance, just like hibiscus in water.
Dutch media praised her as "the beautiful embodiment and outstanding representative of magnificent China music and oriental art"; The New York Times once commented that Yuan Sha's guzheng performance was "a highly perfect performance with touching auditory impression and fascinating visual impression".
She spreads the elegant style of guzheng with gentle and calm attitude, and the ethereal, quiet and far-reaching charm of guzheng is vividly displayed in her interpretation. In her wonderful piano sound, people also deeply realized the charm and cultural value of China Guzheng.
The first piece, Mountain Flowing Water, was taken from the time when the guzheng originated, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. "Boya drum and piano meet bosom friends" has been passed down to this day. "I am like Mount Tai, and I am like a river," Boya said, and Zhong Ziqi will win it. Boya's "Thank you for playing the piano" profoundly expresses the helplessness that intimate people can't find. This song interprets the precious feelings of being alive and knowing friends, and also embodies the profound charm accumulated by Guzheng for more than 2500 years.
A song "Moonlit Night on the Spring River" tells the story that the audience brought the guzheng into the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, when the guzheng reached the top level in production skills and performance. In the heyday of Tang poetry, the moonlight in Zhang Chunjiang overshadowed the whole Tang Dynasty. For thousands of years, no one can describe a Xijiang moon so vividly. It can be said that the moonlit night on the riverside has created the splendor of Tang poetry and the immortality of China's poetry and music country. Melody of this song also uses "From the New World" by Czech composer dvorak, which skillfully blends homesickness with moonlight and deeply touches the homesickness of overseas listeners.
Later, ancient western music was introduced to China through the Silk Road, and the Silk Road music blended with China traditional music. A Journey to the Desert is an exotic new work in the whole performance, which contains multi-range tones and complex rhythms. Drums and Zheng rhyme complement each other and complement each other. The ensemble is thrilling, exciting and shocking.
Finally, Yuan Sha played Lotus Out of the Water, one of the top ten famous guzheng songs in China. "Notes" vividly describes the muddy but not dirty wind festival. Leng Qian, a musician in the Ming Dynasty, said, "I love this Zheng, and I don't want to fight." . Yuan Sha has this kind of temperament, pure and beautiful, elegant and graceful, flowing quietly from her fingertips, without any exaggerated movements, but leaving a lingering aesthetic feeling.
