The Disappearing City-Nanning
Passing through Minzu Avenue during the rush hour every day, I can't help complaining that a few words are blocked into a dog. I remember sitting in the back seat of a 28-inch bicycle when I was a child. At that time, I felt that the roads in Nanning were particularly spacious and extended in all directions, with only a few cars on the road.

(Photo/Nanning Loulou Fan)

Now Nanning is more and more like a big city, with more and more high-rise buildings and more beautiful cities. Nanning has become familiar and unfamiliar. Some things get better after reconstruction, but some things disappear forever. Those mottled memories are being swallowed up bit by bit, and once beautiful things have become endless regrets. Where can I find those familiar places and the smell of missing now?

I. Lost landmarks

1. Peking University Passenger Station

Peking University Passenger Transport Center is adjacent to the inner ring road of the city, and it is one of the highway transportation hubs of Nanning's southwest sea passage. This used to be the passenger station with the most traffic in Nanning.

Due to the serious traffic congestion during the operation, especially during holidays, the traffic pressure on the surrounding roads is high. Peking University Bus Terminal was officially closed on 20 13, and moved to Xixiangtang Bus Terminal as a whole.

(Figure/Network)

The former Peking University Bus Terminal was busy, and it was abandoned there after moving to Xixiangtang Bus Terminal. Until 20 17, 1 1, Peking University Passenger Station was demolished, officially ending the history of more than 20 years. According to the renovation plan, we can see that the Peking University Passenger Station will be transformed into a residential area in the future.

2. National Shopping Center

National Shopping Mall is located in the most prosperous Chaoyang business district. It used to be the hottest leisure and entertainment place in Nanning, the earliest karaoke bar in Nanning and the favorite shopping place for Nanning people. In the past, if you wanted to buy audio equipment and electronic products at home, the first thing you thought of was going to the national mall.

(Figure/Network)

20 17 July, it was reported that the National Mall would be demolished soon, and a new urban complex would be built on the original site. I have been with Nanning people for 28 years and want to say goodbye.

(Photo/Nanning Circle)

There is also a DVD player bought in the national shopping mall more than ten years ago. At that time, my pocket money was saved to buy all kinds of anime CDs. With the popularity of the Internet, DVD players have long been eliminated. Times have changed. Nowadays, there are many modern shopping malls in Nanning, and the 28-year-old national shopping mall has faded away from the noise and prosperity, just like a DVD player.

3. Chaoyang People's Pedestrian Bridge

1985, the first footbridge in Guangxi was built in Nanning. At that time, there was a lot of traffic around Chaoyang Road and Renmin Road department stores, and people ran red lights in time, causing many traffic accidents. In order to alleviate the traffic jam at the crossroads, the Nanning Municipal Government invested more than 500,000 yuan to build this overpass.

(Photo/Nanning TV Station)

With this overpass, people almost no longer run red lights to cross the road, and the traffic order is much better. At that time, there were many small commodities on the overpass, such as eggs, steamed bread, handicrafts and so on. There are all kinds and the prices are very cheap.

After more than 20 years of wind and rain, the overpass has been seriously corroded and technically unsuitable for reinforcement. Therefore, the Nanning municipal government decided to demolish the overpass. When it had to say goodbye to Nanning people, many citizens went to take photos as a souvenir, and some people wanted to take the overpass for the last time.

4. China movies

China Cinema, founded in 1930s, is one of the oldest cinemas in Nanning. 1932 was rebuilt by Tan Fu, Governor of Guangxi. At that time, it was called China Grand Theatre, mainly for screening. 1946 changed its name to China Cinema in September. At that time, China Cinema was one of the best cinemas in Nanning, and the whole cinema could accommodate more than 2,000 people.

(Figure/@ Lao Dou has something to say)

With the continuous emergence of high-end star-rated cinemas in Nanning, Wanda Cinema, Red Star Cinema, Broadway Cinema and other cinemas with advanced equipment and excellent services have opened one after another, and the traditional and established China cinemas have gradually declined in the competition. In 20 13, Eternal Times Cinema invested heavily in the renovation and upgrading of China Film City, and China Cinema became more modern.

20 17 with the development of Nanning three streets and two lanes project, China cinema was also demolished. There is one missing building of the Republic of China in Nanning.

5. Laoshui Street

There are different opinions about the origin of the name of Water Street. It is said that before liberation, residents along the pedestrian street and Huaqiang Road had to pass through here to get water for Yongjiang River, and the streets were sparkling, hence the name. It is also said that Water Street was named "Water Street" because it used to sell water. Others say that the water street was named because it was often soaked by floods and waterlogging many years ago.

(Figure/Network)

No matter how the water street is named, it represents a strong Nanning style. Water Street, representing the tradition of Nanning, is the most distinctive old city in Nanning. For a long time, Shuijie vegetable market has a wide variety of products, covering almost all agricultural products. Not only the quality is excellent, but also the variety is homogeneous, and the price is lower than other vegetable markets.

(Figure/Network)

Water Street not only bears the commercial memory of Nanning for a hundred years, but also is the birthplace of traditional food culture in Nanning. Some people say that the water street is the stomach of Nanning people, but now the food in the old water street has been moved everywhere, and the pure taste of the old water street can no longer be found.

6. Southern Cotton Textile Factory

In the 1980s and 1990s, when traditional industries were most prosperous, manufacturing state-owned enterprises such as textile mills, cigarette factories and monosodium glutamate factories gathered in Beihu area. Each factory has its own living quarters, and Nanning Cotton Textile Factory is one of them.

(Figure/Network)

Nanmian is the abbreviation of the former Nanning cotton textile mill, which is almost unknown in old Nanning. It is a brilliant industrial representative in the eyes of old Nanning people in the 1980s and 1990s. At that time, a large area of Beihu Road, Youai Road, Hengyang Road and Zhonghua Road was the factory and living area of Nanmian Textile Factory.

(Figure/Network)

However, with the economic transformation and reform of the country, the state-owned enterprises that failed in transformation went bankrupt one after another, leaving behind a place full of weeds and depression. However, this land is about to usher in a new life, and the old city reconstruction project is about to start. In the future, there will be many high-rise buildings here, which witnessed that "Nanmian" in Nanning's industrial age will become history.

7. Lin Sheng Street

In Nanning, everyone knows Zhongshan Road, and how many people know that there is a Lin Sheng Street at the end of Zhongshan Road. But when it comes to Friends Powder in Tianfu Lane, many people suddenly realize that this street is called Lin Sheng Street.

(Photo/@ Qiu Gangcheng)

Although it is in the city center, it is out of place with the surrounding prosperity. In the early years, Lin Sheng Street was very busy, and there were many delicious foods hidden in the alley, which represented the taste of old Nanning.

(Figure/Network)

Later, many people moved out of this alley, and Lin Sheng Street became old, so we still have to say goodbye to Nanning people. Tianfu Lane headquarters moved away, and the low and old houses were also demolished. Lin Sheng Street can only exist in the memory of Nanning people.

8. Garden Lake Flower and Bird Market

When I was a child, I was happier visiting the flower and bird market than going to the amusement park. There are all kinds of interesting things besides flowers in the flower and bird market. Many people will come here to play cricket and play with birds. In addition to potted flowers, domestic dogs and cats, there are many wild animals and antiques, which are difficult to distinguish between true and false.

(Figure/Network)

Yuanhu Road Flower and Bird Market was once the first choice for Nanning people to have fun and buy flowers and pets. It was awarded the title of "National Key Flower Market". Although Nanning later had other flower and bird markets, it was still the most lively flower and bird market on Yuanhu Road.

(Figure/Network)

Nevertheless, the flower and bird market on Yuanhu Road was demolished because of the development of Nanning Expressway. Garden Lake Flower and Bird Market was demolished on March 6th, 20 1 1, and a city card in Nanning was missing.

9. Gui Theatre

Many post-90s people like me didn't know that there was a Guangxi Theater in Nanning. You may not think where it is. Today, the Diamond Square opposite the department store was formerly Guangxi Theatre.

(Figure/@ Lao Dou has something to say)

The 1950s was the golden age of Guangxi opera. Later, in addition to performing Guangxi Opera, Guangxi Theatre arranged various performances, such as Cantonese Opera, Peking Opera, Pingju Opera, Color Tune, Drama, Acrobatics, Song and Dance, etc. The attendance rate is very high.

Later, with the cultural activities of Nanning people becoming more and more abundant, Guangxi theaters had to give priority to showing movies. 1988 Guangxi Theatre is planned to be demolished and rebuilt. From then on, Guangxi Theatre can only be seen in the old photos of Nanning.

Second, the disappearing accent?

1. Nanning vernacular

There are many dialects in Nanning. Pinghua is spoken in the suburbs, and Zhuang language is spoken in some areas such as Yongning and Wuming. But most of the old Nanning still speaks Nanning dialect. "Vernacular" is the common name of Cantonese, and Nanning's vernacular is actually a branch of Cantonese.

Although Nanning dialect has a history of hundreds of years, there are fewer and fewer Nanning people who can speak it now. As a younger generation, we have adopted Mandarin as our daily language, and the vernacular is only used to communicate with our families. Our "Nanpu" is becoming more and more fluent, but we gradually forget that we have spoken vernacular since childhood, and we have not even taught the next generation to speak vernacular.

Some time ago, a map of the proportion of people aged 6-20 who can skillfully use dialects was popular on the Internet. I saw that the column in Nanning was very cold. Only 13% of children in Nanning are proficient in dialects, which is one of the last cities in China, even lower than Shenzhen, an immigrant city.

Looking at the statistics of other age groups, we can intuitively see that the proficiency of Nanning vernacular is lower from generation to generation.

Although these data are not necessarily 100% accurate, we can really feel the gradual disappearance of Nanning vernacular in our lives. Walking on the streets of Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou, what you hear is basically Sichuan dialect and Cantonese, while in Nanning, people prefer to speak Nanpu dialect.

? Third, the disappearing technology?

In the minds of the older generation, there is only one craft to walk the world. So in the streets of old Nanning, you can often see some traditional handicrafts. Our generation doesn't care so much about craftsmanship. Do you remember those old technologies that disappeared on the streets of Nanning?

1. Grind a kitchen knife

More than a decade ago, shouts of "grinding kitchen knives" were often heard in old streets and alleys. Loud and long shouts have become unique notes in the street and childhood memories of generations.

(Figure/Network)

My grandmother's kitchen knife is almost as old as mine. If it's dull, take it and grind it, just like new. Perhaps sharpening a knife is very inconspicuous, but it is one of the jobs closest to the lives of ordinary people. There are not many people sharpening knives now, and an old industry is gradually shrinking. This may be the irreconcilable contradiction between the industrial age and traditional technology.

Repair shoes

Now that the shoes are broken, the first reaction must be to buy a new pair. But in the heart of old Nanning, shoes must be mended before they are worn. There used to be several shoe repair stalls and a small chair near the old street. You can repair your shoes by putting your tools on the ground. My mother used to take her shoes to the side of the road to have them mended when they were broken. A pair of shoes can last for years.

(Figure/Network)

Now we can't repair shoes. If they are broken, we will throw them away and replace them. Unconsciously, the shoe repair booth has gradually disappeared in the streets of Nanning. The shoe repair booth has become a memory only when I was a child.

Pull a face

There is a common riddle: "Four feet touch, four eyes meet, one is gnawing his teeth, and the other is suffering." I said pull a face. Eminem, who specializes in pulling faces, uses thread to pull out the hair on a woman's forehead and sideburns, making a curved crescent eyebrow.

(Figure/Network)

When I was a child, I often saw thousands of faces in Chaoyang Square. Nanning girls who used to love beauty always pull their faces. Eminem's hands and a few threads can make his face glow. Later, with the development of modern beauty technology, Wanmian gradually disappeared in the city.

4. tailor

My grandmother told me that at that time, they could only find a tailor to make new clothes during the Spring Festival, and a new dress could be happy for a year. In my mother's generation, almost every family had sewing machines, because the popular dowry at that time was sewing machines, bicycles, radios and watches.

(Figure/Network)

It is more and more convenient to buy clothes now. You can even buy clothes without going out, and many stores will also provide clothes changing services. People no longer need to find tailors, so this line is slowly declining, and there are not many people who need to make clothes and change them.

? 4. Disappeared old objects?

1. Wan Li Beer

Wan Li Beer is a real old brand in Nanning, and Nanning consumers have a strong localization complex. At that time, every household drank Wan Li beer, and most Nanning people witnessed the rise and fall of Wan Li brand.

200 1 Tsingtao Brewery acquired Wan Li Beer, and quickly implemented the brand replacement strategy, directly replacing Wan Li Beer with Tsingtao Brewery Volkswagen. Wan Li beer, which was once familiar to Nanning people, no longer exists, but I still remember the phrase "Go to Wan Li Road and drink Wan Li beer" to accompany Nanning people through the process of growth.

2. Iron bird soy sauce

Tieniao was founded in the Xianfeng period, and its most prosperous period was in the 1980s and 1990s, with annual sales reaching over 1000 million. I remember when I was a child, every household used Tieniao soy sauce, and later there was Tieniao Huangpi sauce, which was the standard for Nanning people to eat rice rolls and jiaozi. From snacks to big tastes, three or four yuan a bottle, cheap big bowl.

Nowadays, Tieniao has been losing money for years, and its operation has been very difficult. Recently, it was reported that Tiebird soy sauce would be discontinued. As a Nanning person, I can't help but regret that the iron bird has become the memory of Nanning people for many years, and the taste of childhood may never be eaten again.

3. Cart electric fan

Dolly electric appliance co., ltd, formerly known as Nanning electric fan factory, has a history of several decades. Now, the first choice for people to enjoy the cool in summer is air conditioning. Do you still remember the summer you spent with the sunflower fan and Dolly electric fan when you were a child?

(network diagram)

Until now, my family still has such a fan. It has been used for more than ten or twenty years and has never broken down. The quality is very good. Although it may not be used in summer, it is reluctant to lose it. Maybe it's a feeling. Today, Dolly not only produces electric fans, but also produces household appliances such as range hoods, yuba and electronic disinfection cabinets.

4. Le Tong milk

Le Tong milk is an old-fashioned milk brand in Guangxi, which has a history of more than 60 years and has nurtured several generations of Guangxi people. I remember that as long as I order milk, I will send a box of milk to my home, and someone will deliver it to my door every morning. You can drink fresh milk as soon as you open the door.

Nowadays, few people order fresh milk to drink, and more people go to the supermarket to buy a few boxes and go home to hoard them. Milk is becoming less and less common in Le Tong. Now Nanning people are more familiar with brands such as Huangshi and Shibu, but forget the Le Tong milk that accompanied us to grow up.

5. Yongjiang soap

Nanning Soap Factory used to be the largest washing products enterprise in Guangxi, and the main product at that time was this kind of Yongjiang soap. 2/kloc-0 At the beginning of the century, the factory closed down and this 70-year-old enterprise disappeared. Later, Yongjiang soap was produced by Nanning Sean Daily Chemical Co., Ltd.

Twenty years ago, Yongjiang brand products were the best-selling products in daily necessities wholesale stores, but now they are basically invisible in the market.

6. Lotus monosodium glutamate

Lotus gourmet powder was once a household name in Guangxi, and every kitchen had such a bag of transparent packaging MSG, which was born in Nanning MSG Factory. 20 1 1 lotus gourmet powder factory on Beihu road was demolished, and lotus gourmet powder factory, which was originally distributed in supermarkets and small shops in Nanning, collapsed.

Now there are few lotus monosodium glutamate printed on the market, and it has disappeared in large supermarkets and shops in old communities, so the memory of being an old Nanning person has disappeared.

Five, the disappearance of snacks

1. White lemonade

When I was a child, my favorite drink was not coke or sprite, but local white lemon in Nanning. At that time, there was a popular saying, "White lemon, you are so stupid." Like beer bottles, they are packed in glass bottles, one dollar a bottle, and taste a bit like Sprite with a little lemon.

(Figure/Network)

At that time, adults drank Wan Li beer and children drank white lemons, which was simply the childhood memory of everyone in Nanning. At that time, drinking was still a luxury. Drinking a bottle of white lemon is like getting the whole world. The white lemon disappeared unconsciously, and now I can't buy it if I want to drink it. I really miss it.

2. Strong throat moistening tea

When I was in primary school, everyone would go to the canteen to buy a cup of throat-moistening tea with 50 cents, drink a cold throat, and have spicy strips as standard during recess. When physical education class was sweating, I drank a cup of iced throat-moistening tea instead of buying water.

(Figure/Network)

This throat-moistening tea can be said to be one of the essential snacks for Nanning people to go to school. There may be one in a small shop now. Still the original taste, the original price, full of memories.

3.6: 30 Soymilk

50 cents a bag of 6: 30 soybean milk is a must for breakfast every day. Now I can't find this kind of bag, and it has become a glass bottle on the market. But I think it's still full at half past six, more like a child.

(Figure/Network)

4.whistle mints

When I was a child, there were two pieces of candy for a dime. Two pieces of candy can be buckled together like a button with a hole in the middle. Blow it in your mouth for a few minutes and it will melt. At that time, eating whistle candy was awesome. Be sure to put it in your mouth when the audience is the biggest, and eat it while blowing.

(Figure/Network)

5. Bubble gum

This must be an essential snack for the post-80s and post-90s generation, with a dime each. Together, they can blow a lot of bubbles. In primary school, anyone who can't blow bubbles will be laughed to death by his classmates. I often blow bigger bubbles than anyone else, and my face is covered with bubble gum.

(Figure/Network)

In 2007, the group where bubble gum was located was acquired by Wrigley Company, and the bubble gum that accompanied the whole childhood disappeared, leaving only childhood memories.

6.baby face ice cream

Baby face ice cream, also called painted face, is a mixture of cream and cocoa, each for a few cents. Cocoa hat, eyes and mouth, creamy face. As far as I can remember, it is the best ice cream. At that time, I always thought about eating my hat or my face first. Eating one can make me happy all day. When I was a child, I ate all the food produced by Nanning Cannery, but now I have none. But Yili offered a similar one, 2 yuan.

(Figure/Network)

7. shredded figs

Minimalist style of black and white packaging, "fig" three characters. Sweet and sour fig shreds always make people memorable. One of the top ten nostalgic snacks of the post-80s and post-90s, as early as a decade ago, almost every roadside shop could see it, and when I was a child, I could eat it for ten cents a day.

(Figure/Network)

Nanning used to be so small that even Langdong was a vegetable field. Nanning is very big now, and there are buildings everywhere. Nanning is not what we remember, and the changes in Nanning surprise us every year.

The city of Nanning is disappearing, but at the same time, it is growing with us.
