What is appropriate for uremic people to eat?
The staple foods of uremia patients are flour, corn flour, corn hawthorn, rice, millet, oats, sorghum rice and adzuki beans. Some hospitals use wheat starch (flour extracted from protein) for uremic patients. Its protein content is 0.6%, and 50g contains 733kJ of heat energy, thus reducing azotemia. (2) Selection of vegetables: Vegetables eaten by uremic patients include white gourd, cucumber, amaranth, lettuce, potherb mustard, green pepper, bitter gourd, coriander, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, zucchini, eggplant, medlar, lettuce, laver and Flammulina velutipes. Flammulina velutipes is rich in amino acids, which can stimulate appetite, promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and excrete waste in the body. Herba potherb mustard perspires and promotes qi circulation, which can regulate and promote the excretion function of human body, make it return to normal and unobstructed, and can be decocted in water to treat urinary tract obstruction. Green pepper can detoxify and diuretic, and excrete harmful substances in the body. Momordica charantia can moisten spleen and tonify kidney, strengthen spleen and stomach, and improve digestive tract symptoms of patients. Lettuce can induce diuresis to treat edema. Pouring lettuce leaves into mud and applying it to the navel can relieve the symptoms of urinary tract obstruction. (3) Choice of meat: Uremic patients can choose meat with diuretic effect, such as duck, wild duck, chicken, pig liver, sheep lung, herring, yellow catfish, whitebait, pond fish, stone crucian carp, snakehead, carp, snail, frog, clam and so on. (4) Fruit selection: The fruits that uremia patients eat are watermelon, melon, kiwi fruit, plum, grape, hawthorn, apple, plum, apricot, mango, citrus, kumquat, strawberry, pineapple, wampee, sugarcane, water chestnut and so on. Among them, hawthorn is diuretic, antibacterial and digestive. Citrus can induce diuresis in the stomach. Kumquat prevents colds. In the case of oliguria or anuria, in order to control the aggravation of azotemia, several fruits with low potassium content, moderate sodium content and less magnesium content can be mixed and eaten, such as apples, plums, apricots, peaches and water chestnuts, which is called "fruit therapy". In this way, when Chinese and western medicines are used for diuresis, both diuresis and potassium supplementation are realized, and because of its low sodium content, it will not cause adverse reactions of edema aggravation.
