It occurs every 2 ~ 3 years 1 generation, the larvae overwinter in the trunk boreholes, and the overwintering larvae resume their activities in the following spring, drilling irregular tunnels under the cortex and wood, and discharging a large amount of reddish-brown insect dung and debris outside the boreholes, filling up the ground at the base of the trunk, which is the most serious in May and June. May-June is the pupation stage of mature larvae, and from mid-June to early July, after the adults emerge, they drill out of the borehole and inhabit the trunk. After mating for 2-3 days, eggs are mostly laid in the gap between the trunk and the bark of the main branch, and there are more eggs on the branches with serious gummosis. The total length of tunnels drilled by larvae in their lifetime is 50 ~ 60 cm.
