Today is Chinese New Year's Eve.
Before evening, my father, mother, I and some elders started to decorate the New Year's Eve dinner in the kitchen early. Everyone was talking and laughing, and they were very busy.
The "menu" we prepared is: shredded potatoes, chicken soup, braised pork, fried hairtail, fried garlic sprouts, fruit platter, four-cheeked bass and so on. We also arranged several light dishes according to grandparents' country tastes: Chinese cabbage skin, mushroom soup ... After the "menu" was arranged, everyone enthusiastically made it.
Set the table, move the chair, spread the tablecloth, sweep the floor, set the scene, etc. They are all my "tasks", as well as putting fruit platters, which is also my best one: I cut apples into pieces and arrange them into beautiful chrysanthemums, and then put strawberries on them as decoration. Then cut the lovely cherry tomatoes into small flowers and leave them for a week.
Mother will also put raw leaves on the table, which will make the flowers less depressed. It's perfect! After this, the dishes are all fried. We took our positions and sat around the table, waiting for night arrival.
The night gradually covered the sky, the boiling crowd outside gradually calmed down, and everything was so quiet. Suddenly, there was another enthusiasm in people's hearts, and laughter came from all directions. I stand up and propose a toast to all the elders present! Ah, how wonderful and happy it is to be reunited with my family and have New Year's Eve dinner together!
