On July 27th, Foshan held a conference on digital and intelligent transformation and development of manufacturing industry in the whole city, and put forward 30 measures to support digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry. Foshan is one of the cities with the highest proportion of manufacturing in China's trillion-GDP cities, and it is also the only pilot city for comprehensive reform of manufacturing transformation and upgrading in China. However, the proportion of traditional industries in Foshan is too high, and the digital economy accounts for less than 20% of the city's GDP, which has a certain gap with the provincial and national average. For Foshan's manufacturing industry, digital and intelligent transformation is an avenue that Foshan must unswervingly take.

For a long time, the research institute has closely followed the strategic deployment of Foshan, based on its own positioning, and contributed to the Foshan big robot industry cluster.

At the beginning of its establishment, under the guidance of the municipal and district departments of science and technology, industry and information technology, the research institute set up an expert team, traveled all over the five districts of Foshan, visited and investigated more than 200 local enterprises such as Shang Wei Furniture, Xingfa Aluminum and Xinmingzhu Ceramics for pulse diagnosis, and formed dozens of digital transformation industry analysis reports, such as Foshan Industrial Robot Application Demand Report and Enterprise Smart Factory Transformation Report, for "Foshan Manufacturing" to "Foshan Intelligent Manufacturing".

The Institute has also set up six provincial-level technical service platforms in different industries, including Guangdong Robotics Engineering Center and Guangdong Semiconductor Innovation Center, integrating experts and technical resources from scientific research institutes such as Tsinghua University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as well as Huibo Robot and Foshan Gaogu Incubator, and organizing groups to serve various "intractable diseases" encountered in the digital transformation of Foshan enterprises. With the urgent demand for industrial automation and intelligence from all walks of life, the research institute has also set up an intelligent equipment research and development team integrating algorithm, software, machinery and control sensor system design, and actively explored in the field of image and machine vision technology.

"At present, many manufacturing industries still use manual testing for product quality testing, which is easily affected by the external environment and the test results are not completely reliable." Li, head of the artificial intelligence division of the Institute, said that the AI smart cameras developed by this project can replace manual detection, and has the characteristics of good stability, high measurement accuracy and uninterrupted operation in the functions of object recognition, object counting, size measurement and barcode/QR code recognition, and the long-term working cost after one investment is lower than the labor cost. "We have calculated an account, such as a home appliance production base with more than 2,000 people. The products include rice cookers, refrigerators, washing machines and microwave ovens. More than a dozen production lines need at least 20 inspectors for quality inspection, calculated at 80,000 yuan per person per year. If AI smart cameras is used for inspection, at least millions of yuan can be saved for the enterprise. " Li said to him.

The recognition speed is only 0. 1s/pcs, and the recognition rate is 99.99%. The detection speed of refrigerator front shell defects is as fast as 1s/pcs, the detection accuracy is 0. 1mm, and the detection rate is 99.9% ... At present, the research and development of this project is progressing smoothly, and it has been put into trial operation in cooperation with related enterprises, and it is expected to be officially put into production and put into the market at the end of the year.

Joint training of industrial craftsmen to provide talent pool for innovative Foshan

As the highland of talents' scientific and technological innovation in the Bay Area, the Institute has also given a reference model for talents training, including continuous postgraduate training and professional skills training with Guangdong University of Technology, South China University of Technology, Northeastern University and other universities. Through the establishment of a group of off-campus tutor teams covering technical backbones and project leaders of industrial robots, 3D printing and other enterprises, enterprise practice projects are provided, and the tutors give comprehensive guidance to the research direction of talents and the opening of papers, and cultivate innovative thinking and practical ability. At present, it has sent more than 800 talents/kloc-0 to local areas, providing technical support and talent reserve for regional industrial transformation and upgrading.

Core-Pearl Microelectronics, an enterprise in the research institute, is mainly engaged in the project research and development of Guangdong Science and Technology Department, such as artificial intelligence hardware acceleration. Zhang Jinglong, Wang Yihang and other graduate students have completed the hardware architecture design and FPGA board-level verification of the AI accelerator and other sectors in the research and development project of smart home information security special chips and products based on the Internet of Things, and have written and obtained a number of related patents and works.

Constructing industrial ecology and digital transformation service ecology

After eight years' development, around the needs of industrial transformation and upgrading in Greater Bay Area, the Institute has built core industrial ecosystems such as robots and intelligent equipment, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, 3D printing and industrial Internet, and created a digital transformation service ecosystem. It has been rated as the national excellent (Class A) science and technology business incubator for five consecutive years, and has successfully hatched more than 220 high-tech enterprises (29 of which have been recognized as high-tech enterprises), with a cumulative output value of more than 3 billion yuan.

In the digital economy, the semiconductor industry is in a key link, and the research institute has also made a breakthrough in this field. At present, relying on Guangdong Semiconductor Innovation Center, more than 20 semiconductor-related enterprises such as Fozhixin and Ada Intelligent have been introduced.
