But it is easy to dry and harden, and appendages and wings are easy to get hurt and fall off, which is inconvenient for plastic surgery and needs to be softened. The method of softening is: put the butterfly in a box full of wet sand, then cover it, and it will soften in about 2 ~ 3 days. In order to prevent butterflies from becoming moldy due to high humidity, drop a few drops of carbolic acid or formaldehyde solution into the sandbox.

Take out the softened butterfly with tweezers and carefully spread your wings. Insert a sewing needle from the middle of the worm's chest and back and pass between the feet.

3. Spread your wings and straighten your posture

Spread your wings and straighten the wet butterflies on the display board. The wing display board can be made of cork or foamed plastic, with a thickness of 1.5 ~ 1.3 cm, a width of 8 cm, a length of 15 ~ 25 cm, and a groove with a depth of 1 cm and a width of 1.5 cm should be opened in the middle, which can be used at one time. When operating, insert the butterfly with the needle into the cork board along the groove of the planking, so that the butterfly's body is just placed in the groove. The base of the wing should be parallel to the plane of the exhibition board, and the wing should be spread to the left and right with tweezers, so that the front wing and rear wing are at right angles to the insect body. Then press two pieces of paper on two pairs of wings. The two ends of each piece of paper are fixed with needles, and the belly of the butterfly in the groove should be supported with paper to prevent sagging. In a word, we should try our best to keep the natural beauty of butterflies in the process of spreading our wings and adjusting our posture.

4. Dehydration and drying

Butterflies with spread wings and adjusted posture should be dehydrated in time, dried in a dryer or naturally dried in a ventilated place for 5 to 7 days. Avoid exposure to the sun. Prevent mildew and deterioration in rainy season. 5. Plastic surgery

Carefully remove the fully dried butterfly specimen from the wing plate, insert it neatly into the foam plastic according to the category, and put it into the glass specimen box. To prevent moths, put 1 ~ 2 mothballs in the box. Label the specimen box and store it in a ventilated and dry place.
