University of Science and Technology Liaoning, located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, is one of the earliest metallurgical universities in China, and has been selected into the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and the "National New Engineering Research and Practice Project" of the Ministry of Education.

China Municipal Government Scholarship for Studying in China, Hundred Schools Project, Key Construction Universities of First-class Universities in Liaoning Province, Pilot Universities of Credit System Management in Liaoning Province, and Pilot Schools of Transformation and Development in Liaoning Province have the right to expel graduate students and the National University Science Park. They are multidisciplinary universities focusing on engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art.

The school was founded in 1948, Anshan Institute of Technology was founded in 1949, 1950 was changed to Anshan Branch of Northeast Institute of Technology, 1958 was upgraded to Anshan Iron and Steel Institute at undergraduate level, and 1998 was transferred to Liaoning Provincial Government by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, and it was jointly built by the central and local governments with Liaoning Province as the main management. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 2006.

As of March 2023, the school covers an area of about 2,763 mu with a building area of 580,000 square meters. There are 19 colleges, 1 teaching department, 1 engineering training center and 67 undergraduate majors. There are 236 full-time teachers 1236 and 237 full-time students15, including 20373 undergraduates, 2909 full-time master students, 2 doctoral students13 and 220 international students.
