Daning County is located at the southern end of Luliang Mountain in Shanxi Province, west of Linfen City. Its geographical coordinates are north latitude110 27' 55 _-1'40 _, and north latitude 3616' 40 _. The county borders Yonghe County in the north and Jixian County in the south. It is adjacent to Puxian and Xixian counties in the east, and faces Yanchang County in Shaanxi Province across the Yellow River in the west. It is 50 kilometers long from east to west and 38 kilometers wide from north to south. The total area is 963 square kilometers. The total population is 60,000 (2004).

The development of history
In the first year of Baoding (56 1), Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty established Daning County in order to seek justice from Daning in Daqi.
