For the native Dongying people, no food is so fragrant and attractive, and it has lasted for nearly a hundred years. No memory is as ingrained in our minds as a plow blade, so that even if we mention it in a foreign land thousands of miles away, we immediately have a common language.

This dish is a specialty of Dongying-Lijin fried dumplings.

1982, our family finally put everything together and built seven adobe houses. After that, I felt hungry all spring, and often I could only eat one meal a day. My parents went to work, my brother went out to play, and my sister and I sat at home. The environment around us is like our empty stomach. Sister said, brother, I'm hungry. I said, bear with it, my mother went to cut Vitex negundo (a wild plant that can weave baskets, commonly known as red willow), and in the afternoon changed some money to pay for a nest cover to buy us a bag to eat (the local name for fried dumplings). My sister said that I was even hungrier when you said pack. I said, then lie down and sleep. You won't be hungry if you don't exercise. If you run like my brother, you will definitely be too hungry to walk back at noon.

I can't sleep at this time, and I can't help secretly hating the "state-run" in the "state-run hotel" in Fovo. There are so many children called "state-run" around, why do they want to open such a big restaurant at home? Do you still sell fried dumplings on April 9 (the fourth day of the fourth lunar month)? That kind of delicious food, hot aroma, soft noodles, brown coffee and green leek stuffing when it is out of the pot, is already mouth-watering before the entrance. This child named "State Run" doesn't eat fried dumplings every day! When you have time, ask a few people to teach him a good lesson and see if the children who eat cornmeal steamed bread in our family have hard bones or those who eat fried dumplings!

It's no use thinking about it. Hunger haunts you like a nasty fly, and you can't get rid of it. This is an important festival for our children. It is estimated that when my mother came home from the market, we all craned our necks to wait, just to eat those fried bags wrapped in oil paper bought from "state-owned restaurants"! It is said everywhere that Captain Wang of our team made a bet with others and even ate a whole pot of set meals (at that time, a pot of 72, I could eat more than 20 in high school, but now I only eat 8 at most)! Then don't you have to eat for a few days? And I didn't spend a penny. This is a good deal!

When I was eight years old, one autumn, my brother and his friends walked to the "big city" Chen Zhuang Town to catch the temple fair at dawn. After breakfast, my sister pestered me to go to Chen Zhuang for a meeting. Finally, my mother gave me fifty cents (one for my brother) to take my sister with me. It's 25 miles from our home to Chen Zhuang Town. My brother and I walked around Suozhen Village like monkeys, and Hannan Village is a few miles away. I don't know the way at all, except that the temple fair in Chen Zhuang is from Fuwo to the west and south. My five-year-old sister couldn't walk when she arrived in Fuwo, so she had to go to the "state-run hotel" to buy 10 steamed bread to go home, and her heart was full of great sense of accomplishment. One person ate two on the way, one at home, and left four for his parents. Unable to resist, the greedy bug had to cover the lid and lock the door to go out to play. My parents didn't say anything when they got home, and they didn't eat steamed bread, as if they were crying.

With the improvement of living standards, Lijin fried dumplings have become a very popular food, but I can still smell the fragrance of my childhood from time to time, and sometimes I can't help crying. This feeling is beyond the comprehension of outsiders. A few days ago, high school classmates got together, and some of them still remember the fried dumplings that I used all my savings to invite them to eat at the Grain Institute Hotel in Chen Zhuang Town after the college entrance examination!
