Korla, Korla

Korla is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, and it is also the capital of the prefecture-level administrative region of Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture.

Korla is located in the middle of Xinjiang, at the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain, on the northeast edge of Tarim Basin, bordering Tianshan branch in the north and Taklimakan Desert in the south.

Korla is the throat of the ancient Silk Road and one of the cradles of western culture. It is also an important material distribution center and transportation hub in northern and southern Xinjiang.
