Dianbai was sparsely populated before the Song Dynasty, and only some ethnic minorities lived there. According to official documents such as Dianbai County Records, the peak period of Han migration to Dianbai was from Song Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. Due to the different time and place of immigration, Dianbai dialect is extremely complicated now. Generally speaking, the three major dialects of Dianbai are Min dialect, Hakka dialect and Cantonese. But Dianbai people think that the three dialects of Dianbai are Li, Hai and Ya.
