Du Yan is located in the northern Jiangsu Plain, east of Jiangsu and north of the Yangtze River, with latitude 33 20 ′ and longitude129 9 ′. Du Yan Administrative Center is an economic development zone in Du Yan, which is in the same city as Yancheng, a city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, located in the south of Yancheng, 4 kilometers away from the center of Yancheng, and will be the new political and cultural center of Yancheng.
There are four distinct seasons here, and the dominant wind direction is east-southeast all the year round, with an annual average rainfall of 900- 1066 mm, an annual average temperature of 15.4℃, an annual average maximum temperature of 19.9℃ and an annual average minimum temperature of1kloc-0/0.8℃.
Du Yan District is wide from east to west and narrow from north to south, showing an irregular strip shape. The terrain is flat and the river network is dense. Due to the different accumulation degree of rivers and oceans, and the different influence degree of human economic activities such as river excavation, water conservancy construction and soil improvement, the ground presents some low hills and depressions, forming local slight ups and downs.
The territory is high in the east and low in the west, and the ground elevation is generally between1.5m-2.2m. Chuanchang River is the highest point in the area, and the ground elevation is about 2.5m.. East of Zhuligou, Qiuduo River and Zhiting River is the second highland, with a ground elevation of about 2 meters. Hudang area in the west is the lowest point in this area, and the ground elevation is about1.5m. This area belongs to the landform unit of He Lixia Plain. There are also relics of ancient sand dikes on the plain, commonly known as "sand hills".
