I'll tell you how to play Ghost Recovery in all aspects under Windows

Haha~~~~

More is more

But it's very useful, yo

Computer users are no strangers to Ghost, however, although Ghost's functions are very powerful, but because its backup and recovery operations are done under DOS, the English interface and the more options make many users shy away from it. The English interface and the many options available make it difficult for many users to navigate. In particular, when recovering hard drive partitions, once you select the wrong partition to "recover to", it can be disastrous: all data on that partition will be "overwritten" and cannot be retrieved!

But now I'm happy to tell you that you can easily do what Ghost does - clone partitions of your hard drive, or even your entire hard drive - in the familiar Windows environment!

In this issue, we have prepared three tools for you, and I believe that after you master them, you will find that the original from the rookie to the master in fact only need a few software ......

Backup your hard disk with Drive Image 2002

Drive Image 2002 is a hard disk cloning program that has been used in the past few years with the Norton Ghost is a hard drive cloning utility, and its unique SmartSector disk image file creation feature allows users to quickly create an image file of an entire hard drive or hard drive partition. It supports FAT, FAT32, NTFS and HPFS file systems, and supports making image files for other computers' hard disks over the network, or recovering image files to local hard disks over the network.

1. Introduction

We can find the trial version of Drive Image 2002 on large software download sites. After downloading, installing and running Drive Image 2002, it will first pop up a dialog box, check the checkbox in front of the "Don't show this again" option, and then click the "OK" button to enter the main interface of Drive Image 2002.

The main interface of Drive Image 2002 is a dialog box.

From the main interface of Drive Image 2002, we can see that Drive Image 2002 is actually a comprehensive hard disk tool, interested friends can try it out for disk maintenance, making boot disks, etc. In this article, we come together to learn its core functions - the production of hard disk partition image files and recovery of hard disk partitioning operations.

2. Make a hard disk partition image

Step 1 Click the "Create Image" button.

Step 2 Click the Select Drives button on the left side of the window, and then click the checkboxes in front of the hard disk partitions on the right side of the window to determine which partitions you want to make an image of. If you have more than one hard drive, the hard drive selection window will list more than one hard drive, and when you select a hard drive, the lower window will show all the partitions on that hard drive and their usage status.

Step 3 Click the "Select Destination" button on the left side of the window, we can select the hard disk partition where we want to save the image file on the right side of the window (if the free capacity of this partition is less than that of the image file to be created, then this partition will not be available for selection), and then click "Image" on the left side of the window. The input box under "Image" sets the folder and filename for the image file, and the input box under "Image files" allows you to enter a description of the image file.

Step 4 Next, click the "Options" button at the bottom of the left window, and then make settings: in the "Compression Level" window, set the compression level of the created image file; in the "Sectuity" window, set the compression level of the created image file; in the "Sectivity" window, set the compression level of the created image file. "Sectuity" under the window, first select the "Password-protect image" check box, and then in the following two input boxes, type the same password, you can make their own image file Then you can add a password to the image file you made, and only if you provide the correct password can you use the image file to restore the partition later. If you want to burn the image file to a CD-ROM or other media, you can check the checkbox in front of "Split image Multiple", and then select a suitable capacity in the drop-down list of "Size of each" to let Drive Image 2002 burn the image file to a CD-ROM. Then select a suitable size from the "Size of each" drop-down list, and let Drive Image 2002 automatically split the image file into the sizes you specify.

Step 5 At this point, we are done with the setup. Click the "Overview" button on the left side of the window to see if all the settings are correct.

Click the "Finish" button after confirming that it is correct, Drive Image 2002 will pop up a window to tell you that all the settings have been completed, if you click the "Yes" button, the program will immediately restart the computer and create the image file. If you click the "Yes" button, the program will immediately restart the computer and make the image file; selecting "No" will perform the operation the next time you start the computer.

Tip: Drive Image 2002 will automatically enter the DOS interface after Windows reboots to perform a hard disk backup, but if you are using Windows 2000/XP, the hard disk backup will not be performed until the system has booted to the point where you are about to enter the user login interface, so you just have to be patient. Once the backup is complete, Drive Image 2002 will automatically return control of the system to the operating system and Windows will continue to boot automatically.

If you want to clone an entire hard disk, you can select the "Copy Drivers" button on the right. By default, all partitions on the first hard disk are selected. If you are sure that you want to "clone" the entire contents of the first hard disk to the second, then click the "Select Destination" button in the interface and select the second hard disk. The rest of the operation is similar to backup of hard disk partitions, so we won't talk about it here.

3. Recovering partitions with image files

In the main interface of Drive Image 2002, click the "Restore Image" button to enter the file recovery interface. First click the "Select Image Files" button to select the image files used to recover the partition, and then click the "Select Destination" button to select the partition you want to recover data (do not choose the wrong one), and then click the "Options" button to select the partition you want to recover. Click the "Options" button to make settings according to your needs. If you are recovering the image to the original partition, no further settings are required. If you are restoring the image to another partition, you should select the appropriate option under "Restore as".

Ghost Chinese Companion

Ghost Chinese Companion is a companion program for Ghost. It can transfer all the Ghost settings to the familiar Windows environment. Both newbies and veterans will find that Ghost is very easy to use!

The latest version of Ghost Chinese Companion is 3.0, which is available from all major download sites. It is very easy to install: just accept the agreement, choose the installation path, and it creates a shortcut on your desktop.

Tip: This program is green and does not add any files to the registry or Windows system directories. To uninstall, simply remove the desktop shortcut, the "Ghost Chinese Companion" program group in the Start menu, and the directory where the program resides (by default, D?\comghost).

Step 1: Double-click the Ghost Chinese Companion icon on your desktop, and the program will open an interface asking you to specify the location of Ghost.exe.

Step 2 After selecting the location of Ghost.exe, click the "OK" button. First, select the hard drive partition you want to back up, usually the first partition on the first hard drive. If you have more than one hard drive, you need to pay attention to the relationship between the physical hard drive and the corresponding logical drive letter. Next, select the compression rate, usually choose "Medium Compression".

Step 3 In the "Backup to image file" section, you can set the location and filename of the image file, such as I:\SYSTEM.gho. In the "Additional description" section, you can add a description of the image file, but not more than 20 characters. In "Additional Notes", you can add some notes to the image file, but they should not be more than 20 characters long. The Backup Time at the bottom is the current system date and time, which is displayed when the Backup command or Recovery command is executed.

Step 4 Next, under Backup and Recovery Commands, select where to save the image file. In this case, we'll use the "Save Commands to Hard Disk" button: After clicking this button, Ghost will display the generated command files and their locations in the dialog box below. The files beifen.bat and huifu.bat are located in the root directory of the last partition. A text file "image name + description file" is also generated in the directory where the image file is stored. beifen.bat is used to complete the backup operation under DOS, huifu.bat is used to restore the system when there is a problem, and the description file is just a description of the image file so that you don't forget it later.

Step 5: If there are no errors in the "Error Zone" after the setup is complete, you can exit the setup by pressing the Exit button in the upper-right corner. If there is an error, please follow the instructions to reset the settings.

Step 6 When backing up your system, first boot to pure DOS, enter the last partition of your hard drive, type "beifen.bat" at the command prompt, and press "Y" to start the backup. If you want to restore your system, type "huifu.bat" and you're good to go, the whole process is in Chinese.

Data Ready
Data Ready is a video ready to be used in your PC. If you go to the Lastime directory in the Ghost Chinese Companion folder, you will find "beifen.bat" and "huifu.bat" hiding in there!

"Blue Comet" makes you a Ghost expert

Ghost Go, also known as "Blue Comet", is a Ghost assistant program that makes it easy to set up Ghost operations and parameters on Windows. Ghost Go is a batch program that allows you to easily set up Ghost operations and parameters on Windows and generate a batch file, thus avoiding the need for cumbersome DOS operations. You can download this software from many download sites (e.g. www.ccidnet.com) and double-click the executable file to install and launch Blue Comet.

Step 1 Once Ghost Go is running, click the "Folder" button under "Select a folder to store program files" and select the folder where Ghost Go is located (e.g. G:\ghost). Then, under "Select a shortcut to create", choose to create a shortcut to the program on the desktop, in the Start Menu, or in the Quick Launch bar.

Step 2 Click the Start button, and after a few moments the software will pop up a window prompting the user to "File creation complete", click the OK button. Click the Ghost Go icon on the desktop and select the dialog box you want to execute. Note: The steps for selecting different options are different, and in this article, we'll take the most commonly used one, "Make an image file", as an example.

Step 3 Check the radio box behind "Make an image file", then click the confirmation button in the lower right corner (white button with a check mark), we "Select the target" for "hard disk partition", then select the following The first partition of the first hard disk (i.e. boot partition, if the user has only one hard disk, select the first hard disk). Next, enter the path and file name of the image file to be saved in the input box at the bottom, such as F:\SystemC.gho, you can choose the location and name of the image file according to their own requirements. Of course, you can't choose the partition where you want to make the image file, such as C drive.

Step 4 Click the "OK" button in the lower-right corner to enter the "Set Compression Method" dialog box, and generally select "Fast Compression". Click the "OK" button in the lower-right corner to enter the "Set Password" dialog box. In this dialog box, we can add a password (which should be alphanumeric) to the image file to prevent misuse by users who do not have access to it.

Step 5 Click the OK button in the lower-right corner. There are four options here, and it is recommended that you set the Auto Confirm, Quiet Mode, and Diagnostic Memory options, The checkboxes in front of the "Diagnostic Memory" option are all checked.

Step 6 Click the OK button and Ghost Go will ask you what to do when you're done, with options to "return to DOS" and "restart the computer. There are two options, "Return to DOS" and "Restart the computer", which you can choose from.

Step 7 Click the OK button to enter the Generate dialog box. We can generate the automatic batch file "created to the floppy disk" (later you can use the floppy disk boot system for hard disk partition cloning operations) or "created to the folder". In this article, we choose "Create to Folder". Click the "OK" button to enter the "Create to Folder" dialog box, usually select the folder where Ghost is located, such as G:\Ghost.

Tip: The location of the folder can only be determined by clicking the "Browse" button. "Browse" button on your hard drive partition, and select an English folder with a shorter name.

Step 8 After clicking the OK button again, Ghost Go starts creating the automated batch file Go1.bat and stores it in the folder we specified.

Tip: Don't forget to store Smartdrv.exe in this folder as well, since Ghost Go calls Ghost.exe, Smartdrv.exe, and so on when it runs.

Step 9 To back up your hard disk partition, boot into pure DOS mode, enter the G:\Ghost directory, run the go1.bat command, and then press "Y" when prompted.

After making a hard drive partition image, if you want to recover the hard drive partition, again run Ghost Go first and select the "Recover Image Data" radio box. You can select the image file you want to recover, and then select which partition to recover to. The next step in the process is to back up your hard drive partitions with the same options, so I won't go into that again.

The next operation is basically the same as the option to back up the hard disk partition.
