What are the models of motor oil?

Automotive oil types: API SM/CF 5W-40

SA, SB, SC, SD, SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL grades. SL is the world's highest-quality grade of motor oil

SA grade: Used in the early 1930's, it was a purely mineral-based oil with no additives.

SB grade: In the late 194Os, the first motor oil with additives, containing some rust and oxidation inhibitors.

SC Grade: 1964 Provides protection against high and low temperature deposits, wear, rust and corrosion.

SD Grade: 1968 Performs better than SC oils.

SE Grade: 1972 More protection against oxidation, rust, corrosion and high temperature deposits.

SF grade: 1980 Implementation, sludge, dirt, acid stability, abrasion resistance, etc. better than SE oxidation stability is better than SE.

SG Grade: Implemented in 1989, better than SF in abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, cleanliness, sludge prevention, dispersibility, etc. Better than SF in controlling engine deposits, oil oxidation and engine wear.

SH 1992 development, 1993 test through the program is more stringent than the SG. 1994 implementation, SH specification content and SG is the same, but the SG for the delivery of the test failed items can be made up later until all qualified, while the SH delivery of the test must be all qualified once.

Expanded information:

From the application of all levels of motor oils, the American Petroleum Institute has been continuously raising the grade of motor oils in accordance with automobile development, conditions of use, and emission requirements. The American Petroleum Institute is constantly raising the level of motor oil. I remember in 2000 when I repaired the car, Santana oil is SF level, the domestic van is filled with SE level

Oil. From the API definition of oil grade, SE and SF were implemented by the API in 1972 and 1980, respectively, and the Santana produced in 1984 utilized 70 years of low German technology. From the point of view of the level of use of motor oil, the domestic car lags behind the world 20 years is not too much.

The 10W-40 in the model number refers to the oil's viscosity grade, which should be SAE 10W-40, where SAW is the acronym for the Society of Automotive Engineers. It means that the viscosity grade of the oil is set by the Society of Automotive Engineers. There are two viscosity grades: low temperature viscosity grade and high temperature viscosity grade.
