From Six Records of a Floating Life, an autobiographical essay written in 1808 by Shen Fu, a native of Changzhou in the Qing Dynasty. With the author and his wife's life as the main line, it recounts what he saw and heard during his travels around the world in an ordinary but fun-filled home life. The work describes the author and his wife, Chen Yun, who were in love with each other and wanted to live a life of art with clothes and vegetables, but due to the oppression of feudalism and the torment of poverty, their ideals were finally destroyed.
