Originated in Zhongshan, it is a specialty of Zhongshan. Because of which era, many Zhongshan people (including many families who used to manufacture and sell almond cakes (all produced by family workshops) went to Macau. So macaroons are also produced in Macao. In addition, Macao used to be a part of Xiangshan (Xiangshan was changed to Zhongshan because of Sun Yat-sen).
