1. How to grow bean sprouts How to grow soybean sprouts:
1. Soak the soybeans in warm water overnight. Soak until it swells and looks slightly bulging. Rinse it clean, drain the water and put it in a bowl. If there are bad broken beans, you can pick them out, but they will not germinate.
2. Find a clean, oil-free gauze or towel, cotton cloth or something, and cover it.
3. Open the gauze and change the water of the soybeans once a day, and drain the water every time. The gauze can be washed by the way. Pictures 3 to 4 are from the second and third days respectively. You can eat it on the fourth day.
2. How to grow mung bean sprouts. Method 1 of growing mung bean sprouts:
1. Prepare a container. I use a plastic sieve and line it with a cloth or towel.
2. Soak the beans in water to germinate. Soaking time is 24 hours.
3. Spread the beans flat in the sieve.
4. Cover the beans with a thin towel and put heavy objects (red bricks, etc.) on them. The bean sprouts will grow much stronger when placed under heavy weight.
5. Place the sieve in a dark place, away from light and wind. Take it out and flush it twice a day. At temperatures of 25-30 degrees Celsius, harvest can be achieved on the fifth day. It takes the sixth day to harvest at 10-20 degrees Celsius. The height of bean sprouts is about 8 cm, the diameter of mung bean sprouts is about 4 mm, and the diameter of soybean sprouts is about 5 mm.
3. Precautions for growing soybean sprouts:
In fact, soybean sprouts are easier to sprout than mung bean sprouts, and they are not as light-proof. Of course, if you take them out every day like me, If you take photos in a bright place, it will also turn a little green. You can see this in the fifth small picture. However, the taste has little effect.
The soybean sprouts I sent were relatively thin. If you like thick and long soybean sprouts, try pressing something heavy on the gauze.
Also, I found that the soybean sprouts I distributed sometimes had black cracks on the beans. Later, I took a closer look during the process and found that some beans themselves had them. I was injured in some part of the harvesting process. It's okay, it won't affect your consumption.
There are also some soybeans that cannot germinate at all. I don’t know the reason. After a simple search, some people say they are genetically modified, while others say they are dried beans. However, under the right temperature, soybeans can sprout quickly. After covering with gauze, small sprouts will usually appear on the second day or no more than the third day. So if nothing goes wrong during the operation, if the beans still don’t respond on the third day, it’s better to cook and eat the beans while they are fresh. Or making soy milk is also good.
