A fern is not a seed plant, but rather a plant that belongs to the beet and fenugreek family. Because the fern is a low-grade sporophyte, it does not flower or bear fruit and naturally does not have seeds.
Fern Seed Spreading
Ferns generally spread by spores. When the spores mature, the sporangium splits open and the spores inside disperse on their own.
Fern seed planting
Seed collection
:Fern spore sacs should be harvested in July-August when they are yellowish brown. Cut open the sacs with scissors and put them in a bag to dry and set aside.
Seed germination
:In February, the collected mature fern spores are treated with 300mg of gibberellin for about 15 minutes, which can promote the germination of spores.
Seed planting
:Generally speaking, ferns can be grown all year round. Prepare a spray bottle with water and put treated spores in it, then spray in a wooden box filled with humus for seeding. At around 25, the spores can sprout in about a month.
