McDonald's Hamburg University was founded in 1961 by Fred Turner, former senior chairman of McDonald's. It was originally located in the basement of a restaurant in Elk Grove Wu Cun, Illinois, and then moved to McDonald's headquarters in Oak Brook, Chicago, USA.
On February 24th, 1961, the first batch of 14 students graduated from McDonald's Hamburg University.
