Tiger Cane (scientific name: Reynoutria japonica Houtt.) is also known as Sour Barrel Pole, Sour Barrel Root, Big Elderberry, and Spotted Zhuang Root. Stem erect, 1-2 meters high, stout, hollow, with obvious longitudinal ribs, with small protuberances, glabrous. Produced in S Shaanxi, S Gansu, E, C, and S China. The rhizome is used medicinally, and has the effects of activating blood circulation, dispersing blood stasis, promoting menstruation, and suppressing cough.
