There are seven species of round-axis crabs in the world, three of which are found in Taiwan. The most common of these are the Fierce Axis Crab and the Hairy-footed Axis Crab. These two types of crabs can be distinguished by the color of their dorsal armor and eyes. The back armor is less pigmented and lighter in color, while the eyes are gray. The hairy-footed crab has a darker, dark brown to black dorsal armor and black eyes.
Both types of axolotl crabs live in burrows, which are very deep and reach down to the groundwater. The habitats of the two species are different. The vicious round axle crab lives closer to the sea, at the front edge of the coastal forest or near some estuarine meadows, and the water at the bottom of the burrow is semi-saline, so it is a species that lives outside of the forest. The hairy-footed round-axis crab, on the other hand, inhabits mainly the underside of coastal forests, and the water at the bottom of its burrow is freshwater.
Crabs are a common crustacean and they can be farmed. Since crabs live in water, you need to pay attention to water use in the process of farming. Crabs are divided into two kinds: freshwater crabs and sea crabs, which are distributed in different waters and adapted to different environments. The former is suitable for living in fresh water, while the latter lives in seawater and adapts to the marine environment.
