The planning perfectly combines the Giant Buddha and Xuedu Temple, avoiding the limitation of time and space. The design concept is in line with the momentum of famous Buddhist mountains, basically in harmony with the architectural style of Xuedou Temple, with proper ecological environment, perfect functions and elegant architecture. Therefore, the scheme is determined as the final site selection and bid winning scheme.
2. Construction On September 23, 2005, the State Administration of Religious Affairs approved the construction of an open-air bronze statue of Maitreya Buddha in Xuedou Mountain with the document "Guo Fa [2005] No.254".
In August, 2006, the final Buddha statue was reshaped with FRP and sent to Nanjing Chenguang Buddha Statue Foundry Company, and the sample was enlarged to 1: 5.
On June 8, 2006, 10, the first bronze statue casting ceremony of the giant Buddha was held in the morning light of space.
On February 29th, 2006, the foundation stone laying meeting of Maitreya Buddha was held in Xuedou Mountain. Li Ning and Li, former world gymnastics champions, also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Giant Buddha.
On the morning of July 7, 2008, with the successful hoisting of the last copper plate, the steel structure of Buddha statue and 1209 copper components were all installed, and the Maitreya Buddha was officially capped. Buddhist friends such as President of Fenghua Buddhist Association and abbot Zang of Xuedou Temple held a cleaning ceremony for Maitreya in the open air. He Jianbo, vice mayor of Fenghua, and other city leaders attended the ceremony.
June 5438 +065438+2008 10, the first phase of Xuedou Mountain Giant Buddha Scenic Area with a total investment of nearly 500 million was successfully completed in three years with the high attention of the government and the strong support of elders from all walks of life such as Shifang, Daiyu and Shanxin Tan Yue.
3. Opening Ceremony On the morning of18 October 2008, 165438, a solemn opening ceremony was held for Maitreya Buddha in Xuedou Mountain.
Fenghua Municipal People's Government decided to hold the 2008 China (Fenghua) Xuedou Mountain Maitreya Cultural Festival at the same time as the opening ceremony of the Giant Buddha.
The opening ceremony gathered tens of thousands of people from political circles, business circles, cultural circles, performing arts circles, Buddhist circles, tourism circles, the press, tourists and believers all over the world, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan provinces.
