There is no difference between a stone fish and stone nine palaces. Shiweng fish and Shijiugong are the same kind of fish, but they have different names. The scientific name of this kind of fish is Octopus marmoratus, commonly known as Shi Jiugong, Shi Wengyu and Shi Bass. It is a small benthic economic fish in warm temperate zone, with long oval shape, brownish red body with black spots, serrated upper and lower jaws, red pectoral fin, 1 1 spines on dorsal fin,1~12 spines on dorsal fin, and 3 spines on gluteal fin. Small in size and high in nutritional value, it has the functions of promoting breastfeeding of pregnant women, making children grow up, and enhancing resistance and eyesight.
