1. Breeding preparation. To breed bream in ponds, we must first choose a good place and build a good breeding pond. Under normal circumstances, we use ponds for breeding. The surrounding water resources of the breeding pond are abundant, which is convenient for drainage and water change. We smooth the bottom of the pond and arrange anti-escape nets at the water inlet and outlet. Some aquatic plants can be planted around the pond, which can purify the water and provide shade. It is also best to arrange a layer of fence around the pond to prevent enemies from entering. The last step is to disinfect the pond with quicklime before stocking to reduce the probability of disease.
2. Fish fry stocking. For pond bream, we need to choose fry that are in good physical condition, strong, free of disease, no external or internal damage, and of uniform size. We also need to disinfect the fry before stocking them. Generally, they are put into dilute salt water and cleaned for about ten minutes and fished out. Finally, put the fry into the breeding pond at a density of 20,000 to 30,000 fish per acre.
3. Feeding. The pond mackerel is an omnivorous fish species that eats mainly carnivorous food, and it feeds on a wide variety of species. For example, snails, river mussels, fly larvae, fish, shrimp, animal offal, etc. can be used to feed pond catfish. Of course, if you need high-protein feed, you can also use feed such as red worms, earthworms, and mealworms. Pond catfish generally need to be fed twice a day, around 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The last thing to pay attention to is to reasonably configure the feed ratio and feeding amount according to weather changes, the growth status of pond catfish, etc.
4. Daily management. In daily feeding and management, we should rationally apply organic fertilizer according to the fertility of the water body and cultivate sufficient plankton to increase natural feed. The second is to change the water frequently, usually every half a month or so to prevent the water quality from deteriorating. Of course, if the temperature is high, we need to adjust the water change cycle according to the situation. In addition, the breeding pond must be disinfected regularly, usually with quicklime every half month to twenty days. The last step is to conduct pond management, check the growth and activities of the pond catfish, keep abreast of weather changes, and take protective measures.
