Dongshan goat since the Song Dynasty has been famous, and is the "tribute" for Hainan's four famous dishes.
Dongshan goat is produced in Wanning City, East Mountain Ridge, hair color black, meat fat soup thick, greasy and not stink. East goat body is black, it is sexually mature earlier, three to six years of age is sexually mature, ewes 5 to 8 months of age can be mated, rams ten to eleven months of age can begin to utilize. The ewes can give birth to 1 or 2 litters per year, with a lambing rate of 150%-200%. The Dongshan goat has good adaptability, and can adapt to both grazing and housed feeding. Especially suitable for warm conditions, it is mainly suitable for rearing in the south of China, where the climate is warmer, especially in the area south of the Yangtze River.
The Dongshan goat is in Hainan's special natural geographic and socio-economic conditions and the formation of a local good meat breeds. In terms of physical appearance, it is among the larger goats. Adult weight up to 40 to 50 kilograms, appearance is characterized by its rams and ewes have horns and whiskers, the neck is more slender, the body is more solid, the hair color is short and shiny.
