Historical evaluation

Zhu Jianshen: Either Fu Linyunei, or the main town in Guanxi. Those who came and went on the border for twelve or three years, the soldiers and the people enjoyed the benefits; those who fought with the thieves for a hundred and ninety years, the Rong king also died there. When considering Wu Lie, he is not inferior to Wei Huo (Wei Qing and Huo Qubing) of the Han Dynasty; when writing about affairs, he is not ashamed of Fan Han (Fan Zhongyan and Han Qi) of the Song Dynasty. (Quoted in "Wang Yue Collection").

Yu Zijun: The more he forgot about his wealth, he led a lone army and went deep into the captive territory. This victory (the Battle of Red Salt Pond) has never been achieved before. (Quoted in "Records of the Pure Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty").

Li Po, envoy of North Korea: Being powerful without being harsh is a true gentleman. (Quoted from "Records of the Joseon Dynasty·Records of Seongjong").

Liu Jue: Liu Zi has been with Shichang for a long time. He not only knows that Shichang can be civilized and military, but also has no ability to do anything near or far, large or small, or important. After Jingyuan, it is appropriate to become Bo and then Marquis one after another. ("Collected Works of Mr. Gu Zhi·Preface to Wang Taibao").
