The college students have made great achievements in extracurricular scientific and technological activities. In the national and Guangxi "Challenge Cup" extracurricular scientific and technological works competition for college students, "Electronic Design Competition" and "National Mathematical Modeling Competition", more than 15 people won the grand prize, including 6 first prizes, 16 second prizes and 5 third prizes. In the eighth and ninth national "Challenge Cup" competitions, the Institute won the national third prize 1 respectively. In 28, the third "Freescale" Cup National Intelligent Automobile Competition for College Students won two second prizes in South China Division. In July, 21, in the 5th Freescale Cup Smart Car Competition for College Students, four teams from our institute won two second prizes and two third prizes in South China Division. In September 21, our college won one first prize and eight second prizes in the 4th Guangxi Electronic Design Competition for College Students.

The results of the 5th National Freescale Cup Smart Car Competition for College Students (South China Division) were announced. 27 college students from 67 universities in 11 provinces, cities (autonomous regions) including Hubei, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hainan, Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou participated in the competition. Our school is composed of Xiao Hongxiang and Shen. Huang Peng, Huang Yongyuan and Kang Yanping, who were guided by Xiao Hongxiang and Li Xin, won the second prize in the electromagnetic group after intense competition in the arena with strong hands. Li Haixia, Chen Jian, Luo Mingsheng and Ma Changjian from the School of Mechanical and Control Engineering, under the guidance of Yang Guihua, won the second prize in the Optoelectronic Group; Liu Shaohuan, Meng Shiyu and Jiang Huanfeng under the guidance of Shen Xianhao and Yang Jiazhi won the third prize in the Photoelectric Group.
