Legends of scenic spots
One of the legends is:
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful, smart, hard-working and dexterous girl on Yongning Dam at the foot of Gemu Mountain. Her dexterous hands can weave dozens of feet a day, and can weave birds playing in the trees, rainbows in the sky, geese flying south, and flowers on the ground.
The folk songs she sang were so beautiful that the galloping red deer listened and the singing birds stopped singing. Everyone in Yongningba admires and pursues her. She is friendly and kind to all her suitors. As a gift, she gave everyone a belt knitted by herself, but she did not promise which one would be her own.
One day, while weaving, she sang ahabara and madami. Unexpectedly, the song reached the sky and attracted the attention of the gods. The vivid patterns on the knitting cart and the beautiful singing voice like silver bells attracted the attention of the gods in the sky. The gods picked up the girl in a whirlwind and prepared to take her back to the sky.
For a time, the men, women, and children in Yongning Dam were screaming and shouting, and the cries were earth-shattering. The gods panicked and let go of the girl, but the girl never returned to Earth. Her body was attached to Gemu Mountain, and her soul became a goddess. Later, people saw her wearing a white dress, riding a deer, holding a golden flute in her right hand, and a pearl tree on her left, guarding her people year after year. Every fifth, fifteenth and twenty-fifth day of the lunar calendar are the days when the goddess floats around Yongning Dam and falls into the water. Under the protection of the goddess, people are healthy and happy, their families are happy, their livestock are prosperous, and their crops are abundant.
