Hetian Chicken, also known as Changting Hetian Chicken, named after Hetian Town, Changting County, Fujian Province, is a traditional poultry breed in Fujian Province, and one of the eight local breeds of broilers in the country included in the Journal of Chinese Poultry Breeds. Hetian chicken is a local breed formed after a long period of artificial selection, with rice, corn and other coarse grains as the main food, suitable for orchards, bamboo hills, pine forests and other purely natural environment of free-range. Hetian chicken contains protein, fat appropriate, tender meat, thin skin, soft and crispy, sweet broth; mouth, feet, skin is yellow, neck, wings and tail feathers are black, the other places of the feathers of the golden shiny; has a high nutritional value, rich in protein and the human body necessary eleven kinds of amino acids. 2006, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the implementation of the Changting Hetian chicken geographical indications product protection.
Hetian chicken is fully in line with the characteristics of high-quality yellow-feathered broiler, and its body shape is divided into large and small types. The skin and tibia of the whole body feathers are yellow, the feathers are mainly light yellow, the tail feathers and sickle feathers are shiny black, the sickle feathers are very short, the main wing feathers are black with golden edges, the base color of the beak is brown and the tip of the beak is light yellow. The head is clean, the neck is short and thick, the belly is full, the tibia is of medium length, and the body is slightly square. The crown of the river chicken is very special, a single crown upright and then forked. This bifurcated crown shape has been formed since the chicks were hatched, and is genetically stable, which is not found in other chicken breeds.
